Need scope suggestions

I just bought a Ruger 77 Carpenter Tech. 222 and am needing a scope to mount on it. I've found a few on ebay and some other sites but I'm not sure which would be the better choice. One is a Leupy straight 20x that was selling for the mid 300 range so far, another was a Redfield 6-18x that was bid to less then 2 bills but not sure where it will end up. Also found a Weaver 6-20x for a bit over 2. The Redfield is the 5-star model, the Weaver a grand slam and the Leupy was a target model. I've had good luck with the 3 Leupolds that I own but haven't much experience with the Weaver or Redfield. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Okay here's a couple more scopes. One I found is a Leupy Mark AR 6-18x but it doesn't have the lens covers, extra turrets, the turret wrench? its just the scope and one set of turrets. Also, the Weaver isn't the Grand Slam its the Classic V series and its 360 ish. The above mentioned Leupy is bid to 215 but its still got 4 or 5 days left.

I've never been impressed with the Leupolds for what they cost. nice but overpriced in my opinion. Redfields are made by Leupold now and from the couple I've looked at had just as good of optics as their much pricier brethren. Weaver makes a very nice one as well. Just mounted one on a pistol and will have another of the same shortly for another pistol. Typically I like Burris - great optics and reasonable price. Usually start looking at SWFA for mine. Heck, it's down on the budget scale but certainly not in quality...look at Mueler - they're decent especially for the money.
Be very careful buying the brand name stuff on eBay - been some very convincing fakes of the Leupolds circulating. Better to pay a bit more from a trusted seller/retailer than get burned and have to buy twice.

I too have had good success with Burris opticts. I've got Burris scopes on everything from my .300 win mag down to my 10/22. IMO great quality and priced very affordably.

Over many years and many different scopes of different flavors I have grown fond of Nikon. I have several of their Monarch's and the glass and overall quality of them is superb. I have a couple of the Nikon Buckmasters and they are a good value for the money. I have heard a lot of good things about the Redfields. I picked one up a few months ago and they to seem like a good value also. As mentioned previously Mueller is another one that you get a lot for your money. Good luck.

All the scopes mentioned are good. Personally I like leupolds and bushnell elite 3200 and 4200 scopes. The only thing I would suggest is to buy a variable because something like a 20x scope on warm days is really unuseable because of heat waves. Good luck!
