Need a Marine to 'splain...........

On the news tonight was a Marine Corps veteran who was involved in some sort of humanitarian activity, helping a refugee, I think.

What I'm questioning was the badge he was wearing. The badge was the usual Marine red, a square like the Fourth Marine Division insignia, but having the star and Indian head device that is that of the US Army 2nd Infantry Division. So, what is the significance of combining a Marine Corps and US Army devices?

Further search indicates its 1st.Bn, 6th Marines.

In WWI the 4th Marine Brigade-5th Marines , 6th Marines, 6th Machine Gun Battalion were part of the Army's 2nd Infantry Division and Marine General John Lejeune commanded it July 1918-August 1919.

Perhaps Prof. Higgins was thinking of Southern California.

Having been born and reared in the South, I've always found those that try and force proper English on us... tiring.... Heck, we fought a war over 200 years ago just to get away from it. If anyone ever read some of our founding fathers letters as well as the newspaper articles from back then they would realize that no one had a clue what was proper grammar or spelling.
