We took Thanksgiving dinner at my niece's home yesterday. In addition to family, she had invited a couple who were lifelong friends of hers, and his ninety year old father. After eating we sat around in the great room and talked. He, the ninety year old, told the following story:
He received a phone call one night:
"Hello, Grandpa. How are you?" (The caller)
"I'm fine. Is this Charlie?" (He has no grandchildren named Charlie.)
"Yeah. I'm in a little trouble. I had a couple glasses of wine and wrecked my car."
"That's too bad. Are you in jail?"
"Yeah."
"Well, I'm sure sorry. I'll pray for you."
End of conversation.
