Broke 550 rounds today. 2 jams. 1 I limped it the other it ejected but jammed loading the next round. Probably a light WWB load.

Some observations:

Trigger sucks and needs some work. It's really really crisp and almost harsh. Going to do some work to it in the future.

WWB shoots like crap out of the thing. Hard to get any group.

I need a new right contact!

I love the gun. My only complaint is the trigger. It really keeps me from shooting too well. My XD I can lay everything on less than an inch and half at 25 feet. The SR I can't do 4 inches. I do much better with remington rounds though. A few hundred more rounds I should be good to go.

T.C.

Another 150 tonight. The trigger really smoothed out today. I suspect this will happen again tomorrow again.

For the record Walmart Federal ammo has got to be the best ammo I can find for cheap. It's the cheapest I can find anywhere but in all of my guns it shoots the best. It does shoot better than the same blue box from federal. Can't explain it but it sure works good.

GREAT info tcanthonyii! Please keep the updates coming. I just picked one up but haven't fired it yet. I thought the trigger needed a major smoothing-out based on the few dry-fires I did, however.

Another 150 down the pipe. No problems. I suck at 45 feet though! Need to practice that a little more. I started a couple of double taps tonight. Did decent. I would have killed the dude either way, I just like nice tight grouped shots. Even at 20 feet or I don't like my 2 inch groups.

LOL ... It's always better to spread your hits around a little ... no use in destroying the same organs.

So I took the CHP class yesterday and passed.

Anyway i'm now 3. 3!!!!!!!! freiken rounds from 1k rounds. My XD by contrast that I bought last January, has just 645 though it. I love that gun more than the SR, just expensive as hell to shoot.

Nice looking gun. My buddy got one. He has a hard time getting good groups with it. He had the same problem with a P97 and the ejected brass was hitting him on top of the head.

I have been quite happy with a KP89 and a KP90 that I got some years back.

Anyway, I looked at some ofthe Rugers. Just can't get use to the poly guns. been into the stell stuff for too long. Gotta shoot my buddy's gun some more to convice myself.

Accuracy problems? Strange...

My SR9c is very accurate. I was at an indoor range yesterday shooting WWB at 20' and was making quarter-sized holes with 18 rounds, slow fire. At 30' I'm easily inside a 4" circle. I don't expect more from this pistol.

I find this gun's lack of perceived recoil to be a great aid in getting the sights back on target quickly. Maybe you just need a few more rounds through it to adapt yourself?

Good luck.

I don't group it well either, for my taste. I find the trigger too snappy. I'm also not used to double action pistols. i grew up with 1911's and have an XD so I'm use to a nice light trigger. It's all me with accuracy, not the pistol.

My SR9c is very accurate.

+1 I find the crisp trigger on my SR9c especially easy to use without unexpected movement of the gun.

I can always count on tight groups, and I've fed it BVAC, PMC, Blazer, S&B, AE and a few others all with similar results.

It's among the most accurate of my handguns.

Hope you get it figured out.

not a compact, but I find myself to be unconciously accurate with my sr9.

thanks for the report.

The "snapiness" of the stock SR9C trigger is due to the overtravel of the stock trigger. To prove this, take off an eraser of a pencil and WITH AN EMPTY gun, rack the slide and hold the pencil eraser in back of the trigger near the bottom of the trigger. CHECK THAT THE gun is empty. Pull the trigger with the eraser behind the trigger. If the eraser is too long to allow the trigger to release the striker, take some off the trigger and try again.

You will see that with no overtravel there is virtually no "snapiness" to the stock trigger as the trigger stops once it releases the striker. In fact, with no overtravel the stock SR9C trigger is quite good.

The stock trigger has "wings" near the top of the trigger that extend in back of the trigger help to stop some of the overtravel. If those wings were manufactuered longer that would eliminate the overtravel and the snapiness. However, since the gun is mass manufactuered, Ruger did a compromise and made the wings long enough to stop some overtravel but not so long that in all stock guns they do not prevent the trigger from travelling enough to release the striker. With the eraser test as noted above you will see that there is about 1/8" distance between the back of the trigger housing and the wings. That it the overtravel.

To correct this, install a Ghost Rocket.

Hope that this helps.

I'm pleased with acuracy, I actually think it makes me shoot better. With my revolvers I'm not quite as good. Or should I say "I'm not quite as average." Prefer the trigger over the few other pistols I've owned, even when point n shoot instead of aiming, I can usually do pretty well. up to about 800 rounds and only slip up was my fault. I had one in the chamber, slide locked back, and put in a mag- when I released the slide it tried to put the 2nd round on top. duh

I have the "Ghost Rocket" installed in my SR9c, and I LOVE it! The trigger pull is fantastic, and there is NO overtravel at all. My groupings went from about 4 -5 inches at 15 yards to about 2 inches. this is not using a rest nor exaggeration. It is now one of the best feeling triggers I have ever felt. :D

Thanks Big Stu. That's what I wanted to hear. I was thinking of doing the rocket. Now you have given me the excuse to spend the money!

There are some very detailed instructions on the Ghost website. It took three times installing and removing to get it right. That is normal. Just be patient and don't grind off too much at a time.

So you went with the one that needs fitting huh? I was thinking of the drop in one. I've never had a gun down to it's spring before....

The rocket is definitely the best one for the job. It is the fitting process that will eliminate the overtravel.

Watched "hickok45's" youtube review and his opinion about the trigger was that it was really good. And as far as accuracy, man, he was hitting stuff waaaay out there. Waiting to buy my SR9c, have to sell another gun first.

I ordered my rocket Sunday night and got notice yesterday that it was in the mail. Hopefully this snow doesn't delay it. I'd like to put it in this week and try it out.
