I bought this Single Six several years ago used. It didn't come with a .22 Mag cylinder. Recently, on this forum, sdoyl123 had this mag cylinder for sale. I shaved maybe .0005 off of it and it fits and functons perfectly.

Groups with CCI 40 grain Total Metal Jacket are VERY good. It shoots 3" higher than Long Rifles but right on windage-wise.

I thought I'd also try some lighter weight CCI ammo.

I'd appreciate hearing if anyone has a favorite 22 Mag load for their Single Six.

PS: Doing business with sdoyl123 was a very positive experience.

NOTHING I have ever found will outshoot W-W 22MAG ammunition in ALL my RUGER 22/22MAG sixguns,[ six or eight of 'em]. The CCI ammunition has never even come close, a major disappointment to tell you the truth. Some inexpensive 22MAG ammo that shot very well is the ARMSCORE stuff from the Philappines. And, of course, that RWS 22MAG stuff from the fatherland shot like a million bucks but costs a freaking fortune.
AND, for small game hunting do not overlook the 22WRF cartridge with it's 45gr LFN bullet that does knock the stew outta small game. The latter is much preferable in the W-W brand as the R-P stuff was pretty miserable in performance. The newer CCI 22WRF I cannot speak upon as I've never even seen any.

I like it !! Perty wood too !!
Did the same thing and I find that WW is spot on in this fixed sight gun.

FWIW: My converted 22 Mag stainless Bearcat didn't like the CCI stuff, too high, the WW spot on there too.

Thanks for your responses. I shot it more since my post and now am lucky to get the CCI TMJ to group 2". Some groups are larger. I had some CCI HP +V 30 grainers and they grouped terrible (maybe 4" to 5", I didn't measure).

I'll get some WW next time I go to town. Is there a CERTAIN WW product I should be looking for or are they all good?

Thanks again!

Baldy: Thanks for your idea on the sight. I should have mentioned that I have pleanty of rear sight adjustment left to compensate for the 3" high groups.

Great looking guns guys. I didn't like pintos but I'm starting to warm up to them.
