I just went down this morning and paid for my newest project, a 1980 Ford F-150. While certainly not in the realm of classis cars like those from the 50's or 60's or earlier, it is known over 26 years old, which is the determination for it being a classic vehicle. I had no intention of buying this truck, I was going to this guys house because I saw a sign for a garage sale that listed guns and hunting stuff. After talking with the owner about an old Pontiac he had, the subject of this truck came up. It has a 302 V8 and runs, albeit with an oil leak. The body needs work as you can see, ( the left side needs the most work) but like I said, it is a project, and if it takes me 10 years, it takes me 10 years. The first thing that I want to do after I get it home is make a list of everything it needs. My first priority is getting the motor rebuilt. But for $300 I could have done worse.

Its nice to have some Ford guys around haha. Thats is and will be a nice looking truck. Hows the frame? Those years had the swiss cheese frame and usually rust out. There are some great online truck forums that would be very helpful to you.

Nice start for a project. I'd spend the money on hot rod mods for the engine and leave the body alone. Remember, rust never sleeps. :D

I just sold my 79 project

would like to get a 69 thru 72 short box F100. But after the lat project my wife would probably shoot me if I drug home another old Ford :)

Hi before you spend the money to rebuild the engine price a rebuilt long block I use to rebuild them myself but for a few bucks more you can buy one with a warrenty 302s and 351s are known for rear main leaks

Cool! I love "projects" of almost any kind!

My dad owns a tree service business and did some tree work for the actor Patrick Duffy. Mr. Duffy gave my dad a mid 80's F150 4x4 that had been sitting for a few years. It needed alot of work and LOL 4500 dollars later he is driving it. We tease him about his "free" truck but he likes it so thats what matters. He didn't do any of the work himself or it would have cost considerably less of course.

JWhitmore44,
That is one seriously beautiful Bronco sir. I have owned both a '78 and a '79, albeit several years apart. The '79 was lightly customized inside (seats, carpeting, upholstery, roll bar, center console, headliner, etc.) and I had a few upgrades on the 351M (4 barrel intake, carb, headers, four core radiator, tranny cooler). It wasn't at the level of yours but I still miss it 25 years later, it was a big mistake to trade it in on a new F150.

Mr. Lapell, good luck on your project Ford. It's 1980 vintage is the same as the year I graduated. I guess the truck and I are both pretty old. :(
