It is a Chambers late Ketland. I modified the lock plate some to better fit the style of rifle. Rounded the tail and thinned a little. I like Chambers locks. Not a lot of tuning is needed. Just some polishing here and there and that isn't really necessary they are good to go out of the boxPoco Oso said:

I'll pass along the praises for the Chambers locks to my son's FIL,,, Jim. My DIL is a sweetheart & a smart lady. She runs a lot of the office stuff for them.

The specs on this one are as follows. I realized I didn't put it anywhere in my post.
Southern Mountain Rifle. Styled after rifles of Western North Carolina in the 1820's to 1840's
Butt Plate, Toe Plate, Thimbles Formed Sheet Copper
Iron trigger plate
.32 caliber 42" long barrel
Barrel Swamped "A weight" (wide at breech, narrow in middle, back to wide at muzzle)
Sights - dovetail adjustable windage
Lock: Chambers Late Ketland style modified to fit time period of rifle
Stock: Maple - very little curl
Finish - dark brown alcohol based stain over Chestnut alcohol based stain
Final Finish - Tung Oil
Weight 7.6 pounds

I love the .32s, as long as targets and small game are your game. Maybe turkeys, where that's legal.
Always wanted a Southern Mountain Style "ball and shot" smoothbore, too. Saw one fired once at a match that was so accurate at 70 yds. w/patched balls that you would have sworn it was rifled!
(It was about .50 cal. I imagine our smoothbores are a lot smoother than those made by a country gunsmith in the 1850s, though!)

I just picked up some parts for my next build. It'll be over the winter but here are the specs and what it's going to be.
Type : Smoothbore "Canoe" gun. (short barreled fowler).
Style: Basically French that would have been restocked in the Colonies
Stock: Walnut
Hardware: Brass
Barrel: 29" long Round 26 gauge (~.56 caliber).
Single Simple Trigger
I'll be posting photos of the build process once I get started on it this winter..
