My First Redhawk

I bought a blued Redhawk 7.5" Barrel off of GunBroker. I have 43 rating that I have purchased off of GunBroker and never had a problem with any of them until this one. When I received the revolver the top strap had been drilled and tapped and a screw was ground down in one of the holes. This was very cleverly disguised on the photos. Tried contacting no reply. I got so disgusted that I took the gun and took a huge hit and traded it for a brand new SS 7.5" Redhawk told the dealer I wanted to take the hit so he would make sure that it got discounted to the next person. I did keep the Elk Stag Grips off the one that I bought off GunBroker though. They actually look better on this gun anyway. Can't wait till I get the T-Grip that I ordered for this gun. Gave the guy an F on GunBroker hope he gets kicked off sooner than later.

Skinner Sights. I prefer Williams sights but this rifle was made in 2009 so it does not have the left side receiver sight holes factory drilled. I had to go with Skinner and they are also a perfect sight but you usually have to change the front sight also to a taller sight. I usually use a Lyman 17A sight but on this rifle I can still use the original front sight.

So you ended up with a very nice looking gun. Sorry about the hassle. Just keep this Redhawks long enough to justify the added expense and it will work out.

Like those grips too. Stag looks way better on stainless. In my humble opinion.

I actually hated those grips on the Blued model but they look great on the stainless. I havce a set of Hogue that I bought for it but I will keep these grips on it. They feel great.

- note: if you work at it patiently, you can get that bad seller shut down for fraud. GB blocks them by IP address so he'd have to change internet providers to get an account opened again. I had to do this with a seller once who carefully/deliberately mis-represented a broken shotgun that cost me almost $450 to repair it. He didn't realize I was ready to take a road trip to get it right...

Nice redhawk.Im sure you will like it and then you will need one in 41mag then 357 mag and 45 colt.Addictive revolvers.

I am pretty sure you can buy a version of the Williams FP that uses the top scope mount holes instead of the side receiver holes.

jrtrapp1 I probably could but the Skinner on this rifle seems pretty good because I can use the stock front sight on the 1894CB it's a little taller than a regular 1894.

The guy finally wrote me an email on the Redhawk that he sold me. Said he had no Idea that the top strap was damaged an called me a XXXXole for say he was nothing more than a thief. He said his son took the pictures ( I told him he needs to be cussing his son not me ). I say it is funny every angle of the gun was taken in the pictures except the top strap. I am not stupid and he knew exactly what he was doing. The dang grips even slid around on the gun because the grip spacer was missing. He did know "Common, Really"

I basically told him life was to short to deal with him anymore and bad feedback was already left. I am happy with the gun I have now and I can enjoy it without screwing around with him. He is to late to mess with anymore.

Great looking Redhawk! Yeah--just let the bad stuff roll---you got it taken care of. Enjoy your NEW ruger and shoot the heck out of it. I think years down the road you will appreciate the fact that it has been yours and only yours since new--and all the scars on it are a memory of some sort.

Again--nice gun--nobody can argue with that!!
