my back porch view last night

Our place is at 8550 ft elevation, here is the front yard view



it was really hard work getting here, the move was all done in hot weather, thought it was gonna kill me or my girlfriend would kill me during the packing phase, but hard work was worth it and this winter when I am moaning about how much snow or how cold I can go back and see these pics and remember what an incredible beautiful day it was here yesterday from sunrise to sunset. That is Kit Carson/Crestone Peak at 14000ft+, we are less than a mile from Willow Lake but it is another 2500ft above us. I love this place, gotta go haul away the weekend trash so the bears don't get into it tonight. We had BBQ in the backyard, I figure every bear within 20 miles knows I am here.

I know Kansas City has sunsets, but you would need some powerful bicnoculars to see the mountains. This is Colorado somewhere. Is the reddish glow off in the distance all the smokers? :D Sorry, couldn't resist.

Beautiful pictures by the way. I showed them to my wife who is also wondering why Dallas is so flat.

Saguache County Colorado, One Sheriff, 8 deputies, one jailer/dispatcher covering 32000 sq miles of elevations from 7500 to 14000+ elevation, there are Bhuddist monasteries, hot springs, gold mines, trout streams, huge elk, thousands of mule deer hanging around, there is a Yak ranch, there is even a tilapia and catfish raising operation that utilizes crocodiles and alligators for waste management, the guy has pictures of alligators sunning in the snow, this place has some UFO & sasquatch sightings, fun place to live

I'm from NJ -- We have mountains, but you have to go west to see them. I can see the Empire State Building to the east from where I live (well, almost); the mountains require a day trip. But, the Appalachians in NJ are quite beautiful. I just can't afford to live anywhere I'd be able to see them on a regular basis!
