My ammo box is full

So I'm going to stop buying ammo - at least for a while. Went by my LGS this morning, and the shelves were sagging from the weight of ammo on them, and the overflow was blocking the aisles. Picked up enough .22 & shotgun shells to fill up the vacant space in my ammo box. Prices were reasonable, but not even close to what it used to be. I figure it's kinda like gas. I doubt we'll ever see prices again like they were 10 years ago, so might as well get used to it.

IMO, there's plenty of .22LR ammo around... if you want to pay $80-$100 a brick!!!

Well they are dreaming big time.... At $80-$100 prices, I'll forget .22 and just shoot Big bore and Peanut Bore :) which I can reload for. Let's see I shoot .45 Colt for around $20 per 100. Peanut bore (.38/357) is even cheaper.... Hmmmm... no mental gymnastics there to figure out what to shoot! ;)

I'm really starting to wonder if things ever will get back to normal, empty shelves every where like we were in Russia, and plenty of ammo on the black market, must be what it was like during WWII? shortages but anything can be had for the right price, I've got supplies for now, won't run out of primers for years, down to 2lbs. or less on most of my powders I load but have lots of different ones, have enough already reloaded ammo to last for a long time also.

Oh I'm sure they are and want this big wind fall profit to last, but if they keep it up much longer people will just loose interest and move on to other sports, starting to think bow hunting might be fun myself, don't need no powder and lead for that, if the store runs out of arrows I can make my own like the Indians did for thousands of years. :lol:

I don't know about everyone else, but I stopped shooting for entertainment a few years ago. We've moved past shooting for entertainment, imho. Just be frugal. Make every shot count. Target practice now, and in the future, has a survival value. Don't waste it. :)

I do see signs that things are starting to get a little better. I have managed to pick up a handful of 550 bricks of .22 at Wally World. They were just a little more than they used to run. LGSs now have .22 in stock all the time, albeit at highly inflated prices. Centerfire ammo is consistently on the shelves at about 10% - 20% more than it used to run. Rifle powder seems to be returning, and I am starting to see some of the less popular pistol powders show up and stay on the shelves for a while.
