Irregardless of the numbers,, one thing is blatantly obvious. There is a move to defund or disband all LEO by a faction of people. Late last night I had a program on TV discussing this very subject.
They used Minneapolis, LA, New York & a few other large cities where LEO budgets were severely cut. And NOW,,, violet crime AND shootings have jumped dramatically.
Throw in the fact that these very same LEO departments are losing officers due to retirement, or whatever, and are NOT up to the numbers needed to enforce the laws or investigate crime, and one commentator said; "people are committing crime because they know nobody is going to stop them."
One group of people have filed a lawsuit against a PD to INCREASE the force. They say that the PD has violated the charter or whatever by not having the numbers of LEO as mandated. The head of that lawsuit is a black gentleman.
Simple points being; Stop law enforcement & punishment, and then crime will increase.
Locally, Asheville NC cut the City PD budget & "re-directed funds" to support "community projects to enhance the good will" etc. Add in that they have lost about 25%-30% of their officers in less than a year, and the violent crime has increased.
We had 3 shootings in Asheville, on a single day, just a few days ago. Of which, 2 people were killed. A 4th shooting the next day. None related, but all "shootings & violent crime."
They want to blame the GUNS,, not the criminals or their actions due to the lack of LEO enforcement.
And the LEO's on the street,, they are in a very bad position. If they do ANYTHING that even remotely appears to be "wrong" in the eyes of the public, they get accused, attacked, arrested, charged with crimes, etc. No wonder many are leaving Law Enforcement.
