Hi,

If rumor's to be believed, the world's most famous door step? Favorite anthro prof in college said evidence pointed toward it being a fake around 1970... what's the consensus these days?

It's common knowledge that Columbus 'rediscovered' the Caribbean and South America... The Vikings were here way before that... but then there really were folks here before them not just the Native Americans that came from Asia (12,000 years ago) but the latest theory is the French (actually Normandy) were here before that... as in close to 20, 000 years.

Discoveries in the last ~20 years in Scandinavia have turned up inscriptions whose lettering matches certain peculiarities found on the Kensington stone. Since this information was not available at the time the stone was discovered, it should pretty well quash accusations of forgery. However, some academics with their professional reputations on the line are still denying its authenticity.
