Can anyone explain the Dew commercial with the 'dragons' or whatever they are supposed to be?

My wife was just saying the exact same thing
Mt Dew was at the head table on my wedding day
I haven't seen any new Mountain Dew commercials, but they should run this every hour, on the hour..
I’ve seen them and have no clue what they are trying to convey.

I looked at the commercial on YouTube and I agree that it makes absolutely no sense. Not funny, just stupid.
Have to say I don't know what they are trying to say with the commercial. Guess I was just saying I like Mt Dew.

First off,, the opening title,, being a hillbilly and all, I thought of good homebrewed sipping whiskey.
But I also knew it could be something else.
I have not seen the commercial,, but could care less. I don't drink the stuff, and won't. Even though many years ago,,, they filmed a commercial for Mtn Dew (the soft drink) here in WNC,, including Lake Lure. It was like many they have done,, highlighting new sports, or extreme stuff etc. The one they did here, was around water skiing. They highlighted a new machine called a "Ski-Free" where the skier operated a towing machine that looked similar to a Jet Ski.
I was hired by the production company to be "on site & available" in case the dropped a piece of equipment in the lake, as a recovery diver. And I built them a skier worn camera bracket,, to allow the camera shots be taken from the angle of the chest area. (Long before Go-Pro's or any such stuff.)
They brought in professional water skiers from all over,, including Ron Scarpa (spelling) to do barefoot skiing. It was a fun 3 days and I got paid (well,) to not do a whole lot except watch good skiing, eat the catered food, and admire the bikinis.
But looking at the posts here,, I don't need to see the commercial,, as I know it won't make any sense to me.
But I will say, I enjoyed the clip of Roy Clark when he was on the "Odd Couple." Roy was an amazing picker of darn near any stringed instrument. A true master of it. My preferences of what he picked was the fiddle. Thanks for the post GG.

I'm not sure which commercial the OP is asking about. If it's the one with the woman at the edge of the cliff that jumps on the dragon, it's pretty good.
Why is it good? First you know what is being advertised. Secondly, it's short and sweet. It's also timely with lots and lots of current themes. One of which is a strong female lead. The others are dragons and zombies.
The woman is standing of the edge of a cliff facing the zombie apocalypse. Her choice is to save herself by drinking Mt Dew.
It looks like a combination of different movies. Sort of Hunger Games meets Games of Throne. Dragons are powerful. The underlying theme is, if you drink Dew you too will be like Katniss Everdeen (the heroine of the Hunger Games Movie series.)
And who doesn't like zombies and dragons?
I think the target age of the commercial is a bit younger than the crowd here.
Remember, the main point of a tv commercial is to get the viewer to think of their product the next time they are in the grocery store or convenience store buying soda.
My wife likes Mt. Dew and loves those movies. (I did not like Hunger Games.) She would really like this commercial. I'll have to show it to her.

I guess it can't be any worse than the old Quiznos commercials with the singing rats or whatever the hell they were. Nothing makes me want to check out a sandwich place more than singing rats!

Firefly! I'm not a science fiction fan at all, but that was a well-done and entertaining show. I expect anyone who likes Westerns would enjoy it. And that was a pretty impressive scene that you reference.

I guess I'm an old fuddy-duddy. I haven't watched any of those things. Unless you are talking about Mad Max with Mel Gibson. Saw that decades ago,, and haven't seen it since. I think there is a different series or whatever now.
I guess my preferences are stuck in the old timey comedy types,, or westerns. I've never been a fan of horror flicks, or stuff like mentioned above. Just my personal preferences. Might be why I haven't seen or maybe paid attention to the Mtn Dew commercial.
And I may be a bit jaded. My EX-wife was a fan of horror, or extreme fantasy, & such stuff like mentioned above. Stuff with zombies, or odd things in Sci-Fi etc,, nah,, not my cup of tea.
