I have a mod 96 22lr and love shooting it as do my grandkids. The problem is the trigger. It is the stiffest trigger I have ever tried to press. As accurate as this little guy is I believe it would improve by half if I could have a max 2 to 3 lb pull.
Does anyone have remedy or know of replacement triggers for this rifle?

Try rimfirecentral.com for a lot more technical info than gets posted here. There is an entire specialized section there on the 96/22 and lots of experience (good and bad) detailed in the threads on that rifle.

I'd also contact some of the companies that make their bread-n-butter building better-than-Ruger Ruger triggers.
If I had first-hand experience I would say so... good gun worth looking into!

just had lunch with my old gunsmith from the range i owned. He said he has done a lot of trigger jobs on the river blinkers and others so I am going to take it to him next week. He has done lots of work on many of my guns over the years so I know how good his work is and I have absolute faith in the finished product. I will let you all know when I get it back and have a chance to burn some through it.

Ok... So my phone autocorrects Ruger to river, but I got nothin' for the "blinkers" part - maybe it was supposed to be Ruger Plinkers?
