Question on KMK678G. Chad's book Encyclopedia of Ruger Semi-Auto Rimfires shows KMK678Gs serial number starting at 210-18627 to 210-49999. Then 215- prefixes beginning to ship December of 1988. Why is the 215 guns starting ship date specificaly mentioned? Are the 215 prefixes the first MK678G sold to public?

210-18627 is the earliest "civilian" MK678G version known, though there are probably a few earlier. I just mentioned a shipping date on the 215- prefix because that's the point in time Ruger had finally used the last of the 210- MK678G sn's, at 210-49999. Once Ruger reached that point then they merged the MK678G with the rest of their Mark II models, in about December 1988.
