You could try painting the front sight blade. I first painted my front sight white. I painted the top half of what I saw in the cutout and that worked well for a while. However, I used a cheap acrylic and it has begun to chip. So I am going to strip the white, coat the entire front sight with flat black enamel, and then a fellow RF member has suggested a yellow-green "glow" paint.
Iron Mike Golf has told me that the eyes are most sensitive to green. However, the green would get lost against outdoor foliage, hence the use of red sights for hunting. So if your 22/45 would only be used for target shooting, you may want to consider a bright green paint on the sight blade. After all, very few targets are green.
What would have been nice is if the 22/45 had a front sight like the Redhawk/Super Redhawk. One need only swap the plastic sight blade insert with a color best suited for their application. And the inserts are far less expensive than Hi-Viz sights.
