Mini Questions

I know this has been discussed to death, but I have a mini-14 I bought on a whim at a local gun show back in 1994. It's a stainless model. I know it is probably a crime but I've never firer it! It's a 223...Can I also shoot 5.56 ammo thru it? and what if any breakin should I go thru. I plan on getting this rifle out of the box and giving it a good cleaning and lubing before going to the range.

All Mini-14's, except the target model, can use both .223 and 5.56 ammo.

I have a few more q's...According to Rugers web site my Mini was made in 1995 ser#186-435xx. The box says ranch rifle but the ser# says it's a standard Mini-14 (stainless ).Whats the difference between the two models. Box says mine is a 1805 model. Also at the tip of the barrel there is an area of very fine and shallow cut machine threads. Barrel is necked down about 1/64 inch before threads were cut. Should there be a factory muzzle brake on this rifle?

A Ranch Rifle has scope rings and the cutouts on the receiver to mount them.

I'm not aware of a factory threaded model, but pics would help.

Another question if you please...Does a Muzzle Brake a.k.a Flash Suppressor serve and useful purpose on a Mini-14 or are they just "cheesecake"? If yes what to purchase?

Most are designed to direct some of the muzzle blast upward to reduce the lift on the barrel for easier sight alignment on the next shot.

virgin minis are not respected in the gun world... what you got is not worth much... I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands for $200. :)

Sorry...It's no longer a virgin. I put 300 rounds thru it the other day so now it has experience...So now I figger it's worth 3 times as much :lol: ...To me anyway. I don't know why I waited 15 yrs to brake it in! "How Sweet It Is" 8)
