Mini 30 accuracy load

After some experimenting I came up with a load that my 582 Mini 30 seems to love. Groups do not open up even after the barrel warms up. Speer 125gr TNT 308dia. 25 gr of H4198. Win Wlr primer. Bullet seated to 2.20 OAL. Rifle is in unmodified condition. No strut or different gas bushing. From a rest with a cold barrel 5 shot groups average 1.40 in. After barrel is very warm the group averages 1.75 in. I think this one is a keeper. YMMV. As a side note ,this rifle hates AA1680 for some reason.

First, understand I don't reload and it looks like your recipe is for a 'hand load' but I have to ask; What is 'AA1680' ?

AA1680 is a reloading powder from Accurate Arms.

Thanks for sharing. Haven't bought Speer bullets in a couple decades. Can't wait to try it out.

AA1680 is normally the go to powder for 762x39, but in this rifle it is terrible. It works well in my 189 mini 30. I am going to try the 582 load in the 189 and see what happens. MY 189 has a strut , buffer and reduced gas bushing. I may be onto a better all around load and with components that are easy to get. A reloader's dream.

Does the H4198 meter well thru a powder measure?

I use a 25 year old Lee perfect measure and variation is less than a tenth of a grain.
