feel the same way .... check out gamaliel ... free shipping over 30 dollars on MOST items .. great service too.

I've been ordering from Graf & Son. $6.95 flat shipping. I found the same problem with Midway, handling & Shipping has increased to the point I won't be dealing with them.

You may recall that Midway used to give "free" shipping on everything. In reality, of course, that meant it was just built into their prices. For me, it was a good deal as we in Washington usually get soaked on shipping. Those closer may actually have seen price reductions after the change when they lowered their prices (a little) and started adding actual shipping. I think you'll find, though, that Midway charges pretty close to what they actually pay. It is UPS and FedEx that have gotten ridiculous. Midway should offer you some USPS options which are very often cheaper. If you order ammo, powder, etc, then USPS is off the table.

I've been a faithful Midway customer for a long time, but have noticed their prices and shipping are creeping up of late. They used to have the best prices, but Natchez and Mid-South seem to be beating them on most everything I've noticed. If they would consider using USPS flat rate boxes on some things, the shipping would go way down. Generally USPS is a lot faster as well.

I just figured the cost of shipping and the slightly higher price from Midway and those costs added close to 10% to my $250 order. I'll wait on what I've got on BO from Graf's.

I always wait to order until I have a heavy order, something like bullets. Shipping has been going higher for some time. A USPS medium flat rate box is about $20 to send now and even though they say 'flat rate' it depends what zone it is going to.

edit to add: I meant to say LARGE flat rate box which is $16.85.
Also Priority Mail shipping goes by weight and zone. Sorry my mistake.

i may be done buying from Midway, after years of sending them my money.

I just went to checkout an order consisting of a single die and 3 Midway hats....shipping and handling totaled $19.00.

I don't think so...hwy robbery and I will not pay it.
Are you sure that you chose the cheapest way to ship your package.
I just placed an order from them & my shipping was $10 & change.
I think the weight was around 3.6 pounds.
In the past year I've probably spent $2000 through Midway with no complaints.
I've found them the cheapest for what I've wanted & they are usually well stocked.
Shipping is going up everywhere. I've sold a couple boxes of bullets on here & it cost me $8 in shipping per box.

I'm with Sweet William. I just ordered some stuff from Midway, and my order had more than 2 lbs, and it was under $11 shipping.

I need to make a 2nd posting, I have always been treated fairly by Midway. They have parts for my Rugers that are reasonably priced along with other gun parts and supplies. I do find some items cheaper from other suppliers along with cheaper shipping. I have bought stuff from Brownells because they where the only people stocking what I wanted. I try to shop around but for the most part it is by far cheaper to have it mailed to me than drive 25 miles to town in my 1 ton and not find it in stock. I have been nailed the small order fee a time or two by Midway but I just had to have it. I always click the view cart button when I do my wish list and check shipping costs. Some other business may have better agreements with their shippers who knows.

I usually wait till I have a large order but last week I "just had to have" an AR-15
spring kit.. $10.49.
They added a "special handling fee" of $3.00
then added shipping at $4.12.
This was all shipped in an 10*13 padded bag. Whats the special handling fee?
Maybe because its so small it needs "special handling fee"
I think this is more than they have in shipping.

I think their regular handling fee is more than that. :D
edit to add: I'm wrong again. $3 added if under $25 order.

The only problem these days with waiting to put in a big order is it might be out of stock when you order.

Yeah, I can't ever seem to be able to get more than two things in an order that aren't out of stock, which means the shipping costs become even more prohibitive.

Something went wrong with your order. I just ordered a bullet mould, 3 mtm cases and a M&P grip adapter. My shipping was less than $10 (which is still a bit high). I do have a problem with the fact that they add $3 to every order under $25: that's BS IMHO.

Even if you aren't going to place that order I'd give them a call to see what's going on.

I'm wondering. Did you order anything such as primers or powder? Or anything in an aerosol can? Hazardous materials (shippers discretion sometimes,) have forced additional fees due to special handling. I quit ordering anything aerosol or like that in a single order. I wait & buy all the items at once & that cuts down the fees.
BTW; My Midway order was 99.37, with shipping & NRA roundup, my total was $111.00.
It arrived yesterday, and was ordered last Sunday.

All my Midway shipping/handling charges have been in the realm of reasonable. But, I don't order powder or primers thru the mail. I have to balance their shipping charges with 1st class service, great selection, good customer service, EXCELLENT product photography and still no sales tax. Most orders the total for shipping and handling is less than the 9% sales tax I have to pay now that the commies have taken over Colorado and my city.

Interesting.
My package weighed almost 5 lbs, and measured 10"x14"x30". Only one item was "long" and one other item was in a box 6'x6"x6"s. there were a few other things in there. An odd shaped package held a Kydex holster. Still, my shipping was under $11.

Store-to-store varyiations in shipping charges don't surprise me any more than their different prices for the exact same merchandise.

The only cost that's relevant to me is the all-in price to my door. When price is the sole consideration (vs in-stock and/or CS), that number is all that matters. I don't care which component is the culprit.

Midway's service is good enough that the OP will also buy there when the total price is best for him.

Midway shipping charges for 1k .32 wc and 500 .38 wc bullets was $19.00 last week. That seems about right for a box of lead I guess, but does sound pretty steep for a single die and a few hats! Might be they didn't want to crush those wearables into a small box and risk damage? Starts to add up quick!

Brownells will charge the shipping on the ENTIRE order when the first item ships. This is kinda cool in a way and kinda weird. They do it to keep you from cancelling back ordered items. Because of this I had an order that was all back ordered and the first item shipped was a NMBH grip frame screw and when it shipped they charged my card $20 hahaha...for one screw. But then the rest of the stuf trickled in one at a time for no shipping charge. All of my very small items came in 11 X 14 padded envelops when the much smaller padded envelops would have been more than adequate.

Midway waits to charge shipping on back orders until each item ships. Seems to make more sense because it's more like actual shipping. Their rates seem a little high sometimes but actual shipping charges are going up all the time. I think there is a lot of waste in packaging as mentioned.

If all the items on a certain order are in stock, some of them can be put into the same box but rarely do these retailers make such concessions since they have no way to predict how the items will be packaged and what will be in stock at time of shipment.

I have a fairly heavy item in my cart at Midway right now that has a quoted shipping tally of $20.65 which sounds reasonable in relation to today's inflated real world costs.

OP is the one paying the bill, so it is his prerogative to only buy when the total price is best for him.
Since you apparently missed it, that was my point. Despite "I may be done buying from Midway . . .", you'll be back when the total price is right, regardless of what the shipping component is.

I have done business with Midway once about 5 years ago. Same issue shipping was a rip off. I never went back for more! ps

Midway Charges a $3 fee on orders under $25. Midway has been using UPS Mail solutions or something like that, brings the shipping down to around $4 and up....................................

How do you get a catalog from them. I can't read the "thing" online. I want a paper catalog I can hold in my hand and read. Midway got snotty when I asked for a catalog. The CS agent said "you get a catalog when you make a purchase". I used my card and got the Ruger Single Action book. Still waiting on my catalog. The shipping and handling fees are always high. Brownells gets my business. I sent Brownells $5 for a catalog, they sent me my $5 back and I got my catalog! BHK

I just ordered 500 rounds of Aguila Intercepter .22LR from Midway. They charged $61.99 plus $18.49 shipping plus $.52 NRA Round up for totao of $81.00. Stiff tariff for 5500 rounds of .22LR in my opinion. They limit their order of this ammo to 500 ounds per customer. :x
