Midway Email Adds

Anyone else signed up to receive Midway adds? at first I liked getting their adds till they started coming more and more often, I get at least 2 emails a day now from Midway advertising some single item most of the time, some times 3 emails and have had as many as 4 in one day.

I have about had it and ready to click unsubscribe I like to be notified of deals but this is way way to often, why don't they send a add once a week like other companies selling gun related stuff?

I'm with you. Email blasts are the least expensive way to advertise but in my opinion companies over do it.

Funny you should mention it, I get a lot too. They really haven't bothered me, I usually just delete them. They will probably start to bother me now. :?

And they have strategies too. Like I get one email every morning from Amazon. It comes at like 6am so it is right there on my phone when I wake up. Then Brownells sends an email at noon time. Almost every weekday.

I ordered some stuff from a we site called www.cafepress.com cheap bumper stickers. But all of a sudden I was getting like 5 to 6 emails every day. They now go straight to the trash. It's bee. Se real years and I still get them from time to time.

I agree it is just too much. Far too much. Interestingly enough I do not get emails from Midway. Not one.

One thing.... make that two things I have learned to do. 1) I have 2 email accounts. One account is for stuff I deem important. The other one (gmail acct) is a general email account that I give out when I don't want to give out the other one.

Second thing.... I never recklessly give out my cell phone number. I give my landline number for general purposes. If the call is from someone I don't want to talk to I don't answer (I have caller ID).

So, when I order something via website or catalog.... I always give the gmail account and the landline number. Gmail account is ignored and the landline number might be ignored. 8)

Hi,

I get 3-4 Midway e-mails each week, but don't recall ever getting multiples in a single day. Compared to the number of solicitations I get every day from people after IRS sold my e-mail address that's nothing (yeah, THAT IRS--the ones who supposedly guard our privacy so well! When questioned, they claimed they HAD to disclose 100s of 1000s of addresses because of a FOIA request. Right...)

Much of the time the really good deals are sold out by the time I call it a day and sit down at the computer. All those who get email on their phones beat me to it.

I too receive them but I have found that there is a button on my e-mail that says "delete". I can use that if I feel the subject is something I am not interested in OR I am simply not interested in any of their advertisements.

Oh yah just remembered one more thing to bring up about midway, for as long as I've been a customer there they have always sent me a Happy Birthday email some where near my Birthday and with those emails would be a special discount off anything you wanted to buy on their site so I would often buy myself something I knew no one else would.

This year same as always the week of my Birthday (back in May) here came the Midway Happy Birthday email, something was different this year.....no Birthday discount.... :shock:

I just found out that Midway doesn't want my business anymore. I tried to buy something from them last month and I was told that they'll only take credit cards. So no more business with them. As to the E-mails, I have 2 accts. One for me and one for the junk mail that I may or may not get to.

Wow, four whole emails !! You should see the spam I get. That's what delete buttons are for.

I once had an Earthlink email account that I never used. Actually I did use it at first maybe ten times. After a couple years, I decided to start using it again and it wouldn't work.

I called the Earthlink help number and the lady checked it out for me. She said it has over 5 thousand emails in it and it was frozen. She just deleted all of them and it was fine after that. :mrgreen:

Four whole emails, yeah, that's a real pain.

Not signed up for Midway but am for Palmetto State Armory. Average 3-4 per day including weekends. I think it's worth it though since you occasionally find a great deal - if you jump on it immediately. That one makes it worth the time to delete the ones that aren't.

So what's wrong with using a debit card? Or putting your "fun money" on a pre-paid credit card?

Midway, like everybody else, is trying to lower costs and improve efficiency. I can't think of anyone who still takes checks, or even money orders, and doesn't sit on the order until they're sure the funds have cleared (which is usually quite a bit longer than the initial "overnight" processing at the bank where the check was deposited.) I doubt a company that moves as much merchandise as Midway likes to have a corner of the warehouse devoted to "We picked the order but can't ship it yet" packages. And they're hardly alone in requiring a card for payment...

Debit card??? I will not have or will use one in my life time. Pre-paid credit card, the safest to use as a last resort. USPSMO, the best way to send money someplace. The Government guarantees it just like cash. And if you have a problem with the transaction, you can get the Postal Authorities involved. AFAIK, nobody likes to mess with the post office.

Businesses can always do what they want. I don't have a problem with that. But in return, I'm still allowed not to have dealings with companies that I don't want to do business with. I can still spend my money with companies that are more friendly to me, even if I have to pay more. Credit cards, like cell phones can and probably are being tracked by someone. Land lines, AFAIK you still need a court order to tap a land line for any reason, and cash are still untraceable. Call me paranoid, I call it cautious, but it's nobodies business what I do or where I am at any time.
