A long way from heaven and far too close to Chicag
A certain husband of mine left early this morning and flat disappeared not even answering his phone. By 3pm I was angry, by 5 pm I was nervous, by 5:30 I was worried. Then when he pulled in the driveway I was angry again.

He comes in the house and I'm ready to let him have it with my deadliest weapon. (My uncle claimed he would consider it his greatest work if he could make a knife half as sharp as my tongue when I'm annoyed.) Before I could get a word out he hands me a book and tells me he found it online and he went to Indianapolis to get it for me.

"War Horse: Mounting the Cavalry with America's Finest Horses" by Phillip Livingston and Ed Roberts. Numbered and signed by both authors. Needless to say a book I've wanted to read for a very long time but couldn't bring myself to spend the money on...

This guy comes home knowing full well he has a major yelling out coming to him then pulls something like that knowing I can't so much as give him a mean look... Grrr!

Mostly, just yankin' her chain.

But, I was wondering what book my wife wants that would cover a new stainless levergun that I have been pining for. :lol:

Probably not, cause she is a school principal...I have heard more books mentioned in our 32yrs of marriage, than you can shake a stick at.

5:00 p.m. worried, 5:30 p.m. nervous.

BUT

it took from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to graduate from angry to worried.

I'd say things are in balance... ;)

5:00 p.m. worried, 5:30 p.m. nervous.

BUT

it took from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to graduate from angry to worried.

I'd say things are in balance... ;)

When Dave is late for dinner it's time to get worried. Especially with him knowing I've had venison tenderloin marinating all night...

Excuse me? Take care sir, I have been robbed of the chance to yell at a man for being insensitive and boorish. Do not volunteer to take his place.

The day I need to put a tracking chip on my husband to "keep tabs" on him is the day we will shake hands and part company.

Too many women feel the "need" to keep track of their husband when it is unfounded. My sister does that with her hubby.

Now, He left, w/o letting you know where he was going, what he was doing, and took quite a bit of time doing something for you. Could he have figured out SOMETHING to tell you to prevent your worries & anger? Most likely. But, he wanted to get you something you wanted, and surprise you with it. It's way too obvious he truly cares for you. Give it a few days, allow your anger to totally settle down, and maybe after a fine dinner of a few of his favorites, quietly explain your fears & worries so he can at least THINK about a different method of surprising you in the future.

He knows Donna, LR and I am upset with him for not at least giving me a clue as to when he would be home. He's also well aware I can be a vindictive witch after being thwarted out of a rant. Anything special I did right now would be an unnecessary cruelty.

BTW- did you know that the last horse cavalry charge of the US was in the Philippines in 1942? A group of Philippine scouts charged and routed the Japanese. I'd always assumed the last use of cav was WWI. The even made a movie about called "Texas To Bataan." As much as I hate war movies I'm downloading as I post and will "force" Dave to watch it with me. (He enjoys that kind of movie. ) Probably too subtle of an acknowledgement for the average man but I have him trained.
 
I always build in extra time, so she doesn't worry if I'm late. if I tell her I'll be back tomorrow, when I show up late tonight, I am technically early. :D
 
What a guy Dave must be! To think that much of you and to go to all that effort to get that book for you. He probably was driving and didn't answer his phone because it was dangerous to talk and drive. :D :D
