Just wondering how many of us have made grips for our Blackhawks? Never mind pictures because I already know mine are prettier than yours.

I make many single action grips...only sold a couple because mine are the best...and hard to get rid of...

Seriously? a grip thread without pictures???

In that case, mine are certainly the most beautiful. As is my wife. My dog, too.

I made my own duplicating machine to carve them to about 90% + to finish dimension. That leaves enough meat to end up with a perfect fit every time. Of course all final sanding has to be done with the grip frame in hand to test fit . Even 360 grit sandpaper will soon remove enough material to spoil that perfect fit otherwise. I don't make grips for sale but have machined customer wood.

I made a set of grips for a S&W model 19 using multi-layer construction of soft wood (bass wood) just to see if I could do it. I was going to make a set out of walnut but never got around to it. I still have all the patterns. :D

more than anything I enjoy with grips is a good clean fit such the grips of Hondo44.

I have made some grips for myself. I have also done a FEW for others. In general,, it takes time as I like to take my time & do it right. I have a real job,,, so it's strictly a hobby for an occasional project. I got started as I needed some grips for a few guns with that danged infernal,,, eeerrr,,, internal lock. I didn't like the factory plastic,, so,,, I chose to make my own. Trial & error,,, combined with a bit of research has allowed me to make some that turned out pretty good.
