Can not find anywhere to recognize good (or BAD) folks to deal with - should be one in the Buy/Sell area with all the SCAMMERS out there. Had two hit my Want Ad!

That said, I want to recognize louiethelump as a great smooth trade thru RUGER Forum. Bob C was great!!!!

For some strange reason I've never had a problem with internet gun or gun related item sales.... first rule at least for me is to look at how many post a person has made and possibly look at a few....

blume357, Sounds like you have been lucky. I am on a number of sites and have been in the game for years. Scammers have been around a while, but are getting smarter - building posts etc. The S&WForum and RFC see them often and tend to do a good job of stopping them and alerting members. As noted above, I was hit by two Scammers in one add. Most are easy to spot as you noted -few or no posts, call a friend, new to site, etc. One of them had enough posts to qualify to get into Buy/Sell.

Just think a separate category in the Buy/Sell area would be a benefit. Note that E-Bay and GB use this idea.

Louie's been a respected member here for years. While I've never had a transaction with him, if given the opportunity, I would do so without hesitation. 8)

Note the following from the Classifieds rules . . .

Sell and buy at your own risk...There have been several reports of a scam artist wanting to send payments a-la Nigerian email scam. Use common sense and follow up with your buyer and seller. If it sounds too good to be true is probably is. We suggest strongly that if you do sell anything of value or transact a firearm that you contact the person directly before you proceed.

We have noted instances where bad results have occurred when an email address is posted openly in an advertisement. Scammers abound. We recommend that all initial contacts between sellers and buyers be made via the PM system where email addresses can be exchanged securely.
