I have been dealing with FEMA off and on all week. First of all, of any Government agency, these folks have been the most pleasant to deal with. They find my records, even my most recent letters, quickly and what's more astonishing, accurately. And they have had folks who are pleasant to deal with.

This all because of their policy of paying final funeral expenses for those who died as a result of Covid-19.

BUT...............I got a letter recently saying, in effect, they could not process my claim without certain documents, which I had sent to them about one month ago, and had, in fact a telephone conversation with them regarding one of the documents I had submitted.

The response: "Oh, that. That letter was sent to you in error." Happens frequently.

Computer generated. On my mom’s estate the IRS ask for some documents. They never existed. After 18 months. I finally got it straightened out. All correspondence asking for documentation camd from their computer. Took less than five minutes to resolve once I reached someone who knew what was going on.

As a Federal Supervisor, I was required to take 2-3 FEMA classes. I went ahead and got certified. That required 10 on-line classes including such things as dealing with Native American cultures and displaced pets & livestock. Was pretty interesting. Of course, I realized that, while certified as an Incident Commander, I would immediately step down in favor of anyone with more (or, even ANY) experience. I was approached once for help with Hurricane Andrew, but health and other duties precluded me. I understand I am on call for life (?).

They were easier to deal with sometimes than my own agency!
