Looking for a holster than won't polish my sights.

Try the classifieds, or be more specific as to what you are looking for (i.e., leather, nylon, DA, SA, etc.)

Probably the softest,, or easiest on the sights type would be a soft lined holster. However,, to use a soft material,, they usually absorb moisture,, and can cause rust on the gun.
I'm not sure there is a material for holsters that doesn't cause some wear on the parts it stays in contact with while being worn.

My Triple K holster bought from the Ruger website store has a sight channel, but I still get some leather shavings on the serrated ramp part of the sight when I draw the gun.

Single Six, You can "form" holsters to fit your sights without rubbing. You "have" to wrap the sights with a semi-hard material so that the sights "do not" touch leather as the leather is hardening and forming around the gun. I have used "cardboard" for the wrapping material. I have also used pieces of "hard rubber hose" slit lengthwise to cover the sights. They work out a little better than the cardboard. That's it!......................Dick

Revolver into holster = blue wear on sight.

Keep revolver in rug = no blue wear on sight.

This is why I lean toward nylon fabric holsters instead of leather.

The nylon does not make thin spots on the blue as fast as leather does. 8)

I thought i had heard of leather holsters formed so that they don't contact the sights.

Maybe you are thinking of the Safariland "sight track"?

Some holsters have a molded-in sight track or channel. Unfortunately the ones with the most pronounced relief that I've seen are Kydex, and you don't want that for a single action.

Why's that?

Thanks

Kydex == plastic. Given that you're trying to find a holster for a Blackhawk I assumed you were more interested in a traditional holster.

Actually, I'm not sure I know of a Kydex holster that would fit the BH, anyway...

Isn't there some kind of plastic stuff you can heat and form your own holster?

Traditional doesn't matter...

That would be Kydex. You can buy it in sheets, but there are also a lot of makers producing holsters from it. I'll see if I can dig one up.

Well, not much luck. The few makers I could find who produce Kydex revolver holsters only make them only for DA guns, such as the GP100 or SP101.

None of the links work on this page, but he lists the holsters: http://www.buybrownholsters.com/gun_holsters.htm

And this one lists supplies for buying and working with Kydex, in case you want to make your own: http://www.customkydexholster.com/
