And maybe trading my SB Hunter .44 Mag in as part of the deal.
My reasoning...the Hunter is the only gun I have in .44 as all my others are .45 Colt,.45 ACP and .45-70.
I reload for .45 Colt and the others except .44 magnum....
Also I like the short barreled revolvers and the Alaskan can be a very good shooter in hot .45 Colt as well!
Going to see what deal I can make on the new Alaskan my LGS has in stock.

That is my reason for not having a 44mag, if 45lc is not enough, I'm going to step up to 454 casul. There are larger cartridges available, but being compatible with 45lc is a real advantage.

Deal is done and I will pick it up Monday. That thing is built like a tank!
Now I can expand my .45 Colt loadings a bit.

I decided to sell my 44 mags, my large frame 45's and 454's, and go with the 480 Ruger.

Sure it kicks, but doesn't twist and torque like the 454.

I got the 480 SRH, the 480 SBH is on the way, and I'd love to get the Alaskan 480, and maybe a single shot or lever action 480 next year.

For other chores, the 44 Special and 20k psi loaded 45 Colt fit the bill perfectly.

Yes...pictures to come Monday eve! Then I need to gather info on "mild for an Alaskan" 300 gr. hard cast slugs at 900FPS out the 2.5 inch barrel.... 45 Colt of course.
I will be shootin .45 Colt 99.5% of the time!

Well I may collect that the painless way by picking up some Starline brass!
