Long-shot powder in 45 colt

Can you define "seemed super hot"? :?

my bench mark load is a 250 xtp with 25 grains of H110. anything that kicks harder then that or "surprises" me, I consider too hot for me. and I'm not going to play around with. I bought a Chronograph, to play around with, but its such a hassle to use at my range I just stay under the published loads.

You can't raise the powder charge and the bullet weight and make any kind of comparison with what you just shot. Establish a safe base load with the bullet you want to use and then increase the powder charge slowly until you get the performance you desire or until you reach the published MAX load or until you see pressure signs. Jumping around with bullet weight and powder charge is asking for trouble unless you are sure that you are well below MAX charge with that combination. :D
