Arokcrwlr, This gun already has a story behind it, before I ever fired a shot. I got this gun from Zeus, whom I met in Idaho, on an elk hunt which sixshot sponsored. On that particular hunt, Zeus whacked a nice, mature cow elk with a Texas Longhorn Arms (TLA) .44 magnum. Zeus later traded that gun to Charlie Smith for the Linebaugh .475 . Charlie won the gun at a John Linebaugh Seminar, in 2001 . His son, Chuck was there with him, at the time. Zeus traded Charlie, even up for the Linebaugh, with his TLA . Some time later, Zeus sold it to me. Since then, I have become good friends with Chuck Smith. Never had the pleasure of meeting Charlie, who died this past Dec. 27th. Just goes to show, what comes around, goes around........
Summer of 2010, I went back to Idaho, to visit sixshot and callshot. I brought the .475, along with a few others. Mike Barranti was also there. Had the pleasure of lobbing 350+ gr. slugs into a pond 412 yds away, from a distant ridge, across a field. Just good, old Idaho fun, on a beautifull summer night. We also saw a huge heard of elk come down from the cool, and bugless mountains to eat some grass. Had my daughter with me also. Great memories ! This was all followed up with a trip to the Artic Zone for huckleberry shakes. I always tell sixshot and callshot that Idaho is the worlds biggest playground......and they know it ! Just 2 big kids......
Now the gun in question is just standard John Linebaugh fare. 5 1/2" barrel with integral barrel band, Bowen rear sight, Belt Mountain base pin, free spin cylinder, slimmed factory stocks. It is my only custom gun, and it is a jewel. When you spin the cylinder, it seems like it just doesn't want to stop. To say it locks up tight, is an understatement..... It is a cast bullet shooters dream gun. Like me, it isn't finicky on what it is fed . It shoots everything extremely well. To date, it has a whitetail doe to its credit. Looked like she was hit by a brick at the shot, as she was bowled over from the impact of that large, flat lead slug. That's about it, in a nutshell.....
