LIVER EATING JOHNSON

Yesterday my life long buddy Brent (Liver Eating Johnson) came over for a little bit of long range shooting. I took him to a canyon along the river just west of town & we settled in for some fun times.
Brent & I have hunted together for over 40 years & includes one trip to Alaska, he's a very good & determined hunter, he's also my dentist.
Here's Brent unlimbering one of his Freedom Arms beauties, this is a modell 97 44 special & he is shooting it very well.

We did lots of shooting out to around 400 yds, the cliffs across the canyon are an ideal setup for long range work.

This is my Ferminator 44 Bisley 10 1/2" gun, I was shooting some 240 gr HP's at about 1250 fps & they were holding up very well at distance.

Nothing tests a sixgun load like long range shooting, both of us had many hits on river rocks out between 300-400 yds from the sitting position.

I was hoping the water was lower I wanted to go fishing looks like I will have to wait a while they must still be pumping at Bear Lake.

Tyrone, not sure if its possible but he might have more sixguns that you, but no, he does't have a 480, just a little old FA 475.

Kal, I was shocked there was so much water in there this late in the season, lots of the rocks were under water as you can see.

Kirby, don't let Dick have any honey this year. I am doctoring up a bottle that will help slim him down to his high school weight. :shock: I gave him one last year and he is still afraid to eat any of it. :lol: :roll: One point of interest about that river is that it travels North and when it gets around that point it starts to travel South. Not many rivers do that. Steve

Great pics as usual. So he hasn't had a 480 built yet huh? Is he trying to get yours? After his hunt with yours, I figured me might want it or one like it. And we won't get into a discussion on how many sixguns we have. Besides, it's not always how many, it's how they perform,,,! Besides, I get scared when I actually think of how many I own,,,! Dick, I'd love to have you try out my El Dorado I recently got. It's a real good shooter. When work settles down, I'm gonna get serious about some quality cast bullets for it, and get it in shape for my next elk hunt. I told ya I wanted 100 deer with my T/C before I switched out a bit to a sixgun, but this El Dorado is definately going to be my next elk killer. I may get to try it out this year on deer as I'm just a few away from that 100 number.
It sure looks like y'all had a good day out & about. I would enjoy hammering away at rocks across the ravine like that.
