Linen Micarta Grips

I have a couple pair of paper micarta grips from Private Schultz of this forum. Don't know if he still makes them, but he did a great job on these.

Sheffield Knifemakers Supply @ sheffieldsupply.com offers some nice antique paper micarta grip material, but not pre made grips. It has the appearance of aged elephant ivory and ages similarly to the natural material over time. Westinghouse Supply offered the very best at one time, but is no longer available. Sheffield Supply product is comparable.

I don't think I've ever seen white linen but the Sheffield antique paper micarta is on the bottom sixgun.
Good lookin' set of SA"s. Seen pic before but most worthy of multiple posts. You're aware of my "luv" for USFA"s, and yours is Sweet, however I also have a soft spot for Flat-top Blackhawks, particularly with Jim Stroh's front site and the addition of Sheffield's antique paper micarta grips. Silver and white to me is a great combo! I purchased a medium sized sheet of 3/8" antique white paper micarta from Sheffield a couple years ago, but no grips from it yet.
CC .... I'm curious to know if you've noticed the micarta grips becoming a deeper cream color since being fit to your flat-top? I had a set of genuine Elephant Ivory grips made for my Colt Python 40 years ago and have developed a beautiful deep rich cream color patina and look fantastic, with no visible cracks. It's my understanding that Sheffield's paper micarta ages similarly to the old Westinghouse paper micarta and much like real Ivory, consequently my question.
For whatever it's worth, the only thing I do to help preserve and prevent shrinkage of the Ivory on my gun grips (and custom knife handles) is spray some Balistol over the entire grip area, including frame and entire gun, every 2-3 years. Still a perfect fit with absolutely no shrinkage. When cleaning a handgun, I'm in the habit of never removing the custom grips after being fit by the grip maker. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to give the same Balistol treatment to paper micarta.

I'm curious, is the flat top cerakoted or is it metalife?

I agree, I love "white" grips on "silver" sixguns! Be it ivory, micarta or stag on hard chrome, nickel or stainless. I've only had them for a few years but haven't noticed a change. I know that my holly grips are a couple years older and have definitely yellowed in that time.
The finish is matte hard chrome.
