He had a price listed for the conversion at one time, I thought to myself ... why spend that much money for a conversion when One could spend about the same amount of money and have a FA.

Then I consider the H-110/296 loads that can be handloaded in a 45 Colt case and again wonder do I want to spend that much $$ to aquire the 454 conversion.

I own a Alaskan in 454/45 and once again find I don't spend the extra to aquire the 454 performance. But I do like having the option. :D

Now I do agree with "Wished Ruger Would",,, If they would bring out a distributor special 454/45 (like the Alaskan) Super Blackhawk Hunter Bisley, would that not be the beesnees, I would imagine it would retail in the $700 range.

Lipsey's thought the 45 Colt Hunter Series was a great success,,, I bet they would blow thru a 1000 of these just as quick if not quicker.

I would just as soon have a 5 shot "#2 .45 Linebaugh" anyway, as it's hard on the fps heels of the Casull round in the more common and inexpensive .45LC case... :wink:

I think that's a 45 Colt Bisley Hunter fitted with the custom cylinder. I'd sure like to have a 454 Cylinder for my 45 Colt BisHunter but I think there is more to it than just a cylinder swap. I think it's an oversize cylinder and they have to enlarge the frame. With the 1:16 twist of the 45 Colt barrel it's probably a heck of a shooter. But, ya, I guy can buy a 454 FA for the price of this conversion which I think is listed at 1200 bucks. Plus I don't want to mess with the BisHunter. I've got one of the original 279.

Dont think Bowen would do a 5 shot conversion using the factory barrel anymore. I had asked him a year ago about it and he said "we have run into to many problems with factory barrels" So maybe he would do a six.

I asked Bowen the same thing and he said he tries to stay away from them. I also asked him if he would build me a custom barrel for a blued bisley with the same type barrel as a Hunter model. He said no. Said he does not like the weight and pressure that the scope causes while sitting on the barrel. A blued Bisley Hunter 5 shot would sure be COOL!!!!
