This ad is in a Guns magazine (June 1956 issue) I just bought at an antique shop a few blocks from my house. Kind of cool I think, I love the old ads.

And, today, I'd value my '56 example......

At around $750! :D

flatgate

Interesting Fact; If one had $63.25 in US coin from 1956 it's worth ~ $759 today.

12 times face value.

I still would rather have the Ruger :D

I've got this ad, framed, and hanging with 3 other old ads; 44Mag Flattop; 22 Standard Automatic; and "The New Peters High Velocity 44 Remington Magnum - Announcing the world's fasted and most powerful handgun cartridge". Makes for a nice framed set of old ads.

JAWDAWG,,, recently gave this post of mine a thumbs up, and it was fun to see a "flatgate"post.

Need to update the coin value… $63.25 in US coin from 1956 now worth ~$1,328.25

… now 21 times face value. 😳

I hade & have the Silver Coin, glad I have the coin, and don't own a lightweight, but really do enjoy my 3 flatgate's, and JAWDAWG's pictures of his fine collection of early Single Six's.

G2,
I did the same thing, figured out the coin value today!
Wish I could buy a type1 for $1328!!
I just purchased an ad for the RSS when it was first introduced in late 1953. It has a picture of one of the
prototype flat gates. you can tell by the rounded cylinder flutes. Looks just
like the "F" gun in Dougan's book.
Cool stuff.
I will take a pic and post it when I get it in a frame and hung up.
Cheers,
JAYDAWG
