Liberty marked rugers??

Does anyone collect the Liberty marked Rugers? I think they are pretty neat but from what I have read on here people don't seem to find them collectable. Anybody got any opinions or reasons for this? I own a SS 4-5/8" .357 Blackhawk, and have a SS old army on the way. Both Liberty marked. Thanks in advance for any insight into this.

Well sure they are collectible....they just don't seem to bring a lot of premium over non 200th year guns....

I spent 10 years chasing them then sold them to concentrate on the Old Models......

I had fun doing the 200th year guns I just changed my focus....just have fun doing it....RR.

Ah Ha! I think I misunderstood what I was reading. I have started out slow but hope to collect a few more as I find them. Thanks for the clarification.

There have been additons since thess photos were taken in 2009. Several of the NM Blackhawks are from radical rods stomping grounds. The Police Service Six revolver is from Terry T's collection.

I have a few: stainless .357 Security Six, New Model Single Six, and .243 1A. Didn't get them for the special marking, tho. Just to shoot. (And they all do!).

One of the 200th Year Security Six revolvers in my collection is a 38 Special caliber. Very rare & only three known per Chad's references.

The following photos are of my Ruger 200th Year display shown in Boise, ID in 2011. As you can see, I changed the table coverings using the colors of the American flag. In case you didn't notice the 1/2 dollars & $2 bills in the cases, they are all dated 1976! I need to add a back drop above the display cases to enhance the display. Stay tuned!

My first new Blackhawk was a blue 4 5/8 Liberty 45 colt bought in 1976 . I was too cheap at the time to buy the convertible. Still have it. Went on to gather a few more 200 yr Blackhawks and all 4 Liberty No 1Vs as I could find them locally. In last year or so a few interesting Liberty M77s turned up here.

I'd say they are very collectible, and still somewhat reasonably priced. Did you see the Liberty No 1A in 7x57 sell on GB yesterday for $1025? Not NIB but a very nice gun. If I hadn't dropped $556.06 at my LGS for a new Shopkeeper last Friday the 1A would have cost it's new owner a few more dollars .

More than likely the Liberty 1A was the better value.

One thing for sure, they aren't making any more of 'em

I had a "beginners" collection of 200th Year Single Actions. Now it's down to ONE 7-1/2" .45 cal. shooter.....

It has been "massaged" a wee bit. 8) It's OM Brother is a good shooter, too!

I have a few Liberty models. A #1 in 270 Win that I use, a #3 in 45/70 NIB with a box, Mini 14 NIB with box, SBH 44 Mag with box, papers and shipping box, BH in 45 Colt, BH Blued 6.5 " barred in 357 mag, 2 SS BH 4.625" in 357 mag. Blued SS 9.5 barrel with both cylinder, Blued SS 6.5"? barrel with both cylinders, NIB Stainless ROA 4 diget serial no with no prefix, lettered to October 1976 with box and papers and a 10-22 with walnut stock that I use. I think the Liberty models are very collectable.

I have a few. A Standard Auto 4", KNR-4, and KNR-5. Looking for a KNR-6 with fluted cylinders, too. May have more, but can't recall. Will have to check.......

Thanks for the pictures and the nice displays. A 200TH Year display at a gun show in Denver several years ago got to haunting me and now I have a small accumulation of mostly shooters.

Well, I think a lot of us went through a 200th year phase. IIRC, I have one left and it's a .45 Colt cal. 7-1/2" Blackhawk.

My oldest son was born 12-25-1976. I bought him a Liberty 1A in .243Win a couple of days after he was born to start him off. I chose that one because I didn't know yet whether he was right or left handed. He now has several Libertys that I've given him. I try to pick up one a year for him as birthday/Christmas present. He's in his 30s now.
