Libby the blind puppy

My dear departed brother "Ravin' Dave" and his wife Lori adopted a blind puppy some time ago. Sadly, David died in early 2012, but Lori and David's beloved Libby carry on. She loves to slide! Here's a little video Lori put together.

Hi,

There's a couple who live a just a few blocks from me who are both blind. I see them walking all over town, to the market and so forth. The street they live on has no sidewalks so they must walk in the street for about three blocks in any direction they normally go before they reach a sidewalk. Yet there's a strange sense of "presence" they share about where they are and they never seem to get lost or turned about.

Libby seems to share that same sense. Bless your friends for giving her a chance, and in return may she bring joy to Lori for many years... while Dave looks down on both of 'em!

Our pets become such a part of the family, that given one simple thing,, they astound us. Love.
As I watched this,,, I was impressed with the love that your family bestowed upon Libby, and in return, she has given them a gift of happiness. Dave & Lori are great people,, and have been rewarded with a huge gift. RIP Dave, for your heart is still there.

As I saw this,,, it struck a nerve. We adopted my mothers 2 cats when she passed. One of them has been nothing but a "gentle old soul" all his life. He only wishes for affection & a full bowl of food. He wasn't ever a rowdy cat,,, always calm & loving. Well, about a month ago, I had noticed he was losing a bit of weight, and we watched a mass of growth appear on his chest. His eyes have always been a bit "off" but a trip to the vet confirmed a tumor, (not painful or anything,) as well as the progressive loss of sight in one eye. He's a bit over 12 years old,,, but is still loving & as active as his old bones will allow. I know his time to leave us is approaching,,, but as long as he's not in any pain & is able to get around,,, he will enjoy his golden years.

We have a horse that had cyst that blinded him in one eye. We did not know it until a vet spotted some behavior that alerted him to look. We took him to Lansing,... to MSU vet (World renown equine center) and they took him into surgery and hit the cyst 80 times with a laser. It deflated the the cyst (much like a balloon) and restored his vision in that eye. When we walked him out to the parking lot to get into the trailer, he stopped,.... and realized he could see out of both eyes.... Ever see a horse do "the happy dance"?

I guess she just doesn't waste time missing the sight she never had. Wouldn't it be great if they could make people who suddenly lose their sight forget they ever had it? At least in theory it sounds good.

Did you ever wonder how you would explain sight to a person that never had it? Yeah...this is purple...this is green...

I've not had a lot of exposure to blind pets,,, and I saw this a few days ago. Well, like is strange. Today I had a customer who has a bat problem. After my inspection, I had to visit his kennel. See, my customer used to raise & sell bloodhounds. He still has 6. Of them,,,, one was also blind at birth. Yet,,, this big loveable hound was a pleasure to visit with. He came to me, stopped at his fence, then stood up & planted his paws on my chest so I could love on him closer.
I recounted what was posted here to the owner & thanked him for allowing me to enjoy his pups!
