Hello,

Took delivery of a Lee Quick Trim Die set in 308, 223 and 204.

I selected the economy version with a cutter for trimming only.

The adjustment system is simple use and trimmed to the exact length desired.

I trimmed (100) 308 Win cases is much less time than I normally spend.

For my use, I recommend this case trimming system.

Is this the lee zip trim or something different i just ordered the zip trim

Hi,

This is a new system. Bill's report is the first I've seen and it seems to be a good idea. Unlike their older system, which I like for its simplicity, you're able to custom set the lengths you can trim your cases to. The inability to do that has been a criticism of the simpler system in the past. Bill can fill in details on how that works.

Hope it turns out to be a winner! If you want to take a look, you can start here and explore the bits, and the manuals are somewhere on the site, too: http://leeprecision.com/quick-trim/

So where do all the trimming from the brass go and how do you get them out of the die between rounds? not sure I like this idea.

There is a plastic tray that fits onto the shell holder that captures the shavings that fall outside. From the 100 cases that I did, I would say that 75% of the trimmings fall inside the case mouth. I dump it as I move the case to the next station.

Check out this review.

Hi...

I absolutely HATE trimming brass.
This looks like it may make an irritating time-consuming chore a bit less annoying and a good bit faster, with less set-up time .

Question...can the brass chip catcher be used with any make of shell holder or does it only fit Lee shell holders?

Not a deal breaker...just curious if I would need to buy new shell holders for 7-8 rifle cartridges.

Just tried it with my RCBS and Lee shell holders and they both worked.

I ordered 7x57, 6mm and 6.5x55 to complete the set for all of my reloading.

Found them cheap at Titan reloading.

Thanks for the response.

I believe I will purchase one of these tools and try it out.
Will be the first Lee product I have bought in probably 30 years.
