Does anyone know what the muzzle velocity is from an LCR in .22 LR? I realize that it would depend on ammo. Has anyone actually chronographed one?

So, it would be safe to say the Stinger would still be a best choice at I'm guessing 1150fps?

If this ever becomes a 22 magnum, Ruger will really have something.

I'm guessing Ruger materials just can't compete with the quality of NAA or S&W to make a 22magnum?

If you really want to see a piece of work then a S&W 351C with XS sights and Winchester 40gr JHP is a masterful setup.

I'm with donut. The materials are capable of handling 357, so that is not an issue with 22mag.
The issue supposedly is the length of the ejector rod and getting cartridges to clear. The NAA is a single action as is the Single Six both which are chambered in 22 mag.

I was shooting mine into a tree knot with Stingers and Federal Champions. The Federals buried in a goos ways. I was able to pull the Stingers out with my fingers. They were almost completely flat. Unlike when they hit something that is hydrated. They definetly are more explosive then.

The main thing I like about Stingers is they expand to about .35 diameter everytime.

I guess I don't understand the ejector rod issue if S&W can do it. I think a 2 1/4" LCR in 22 mag would be awesome.

Also at "ballistics by the inch" they shot a SP101 with a 2 1/4" barrel and got over 1000 fps out of Remington Yellow Jackets. So the hyper velocity rounds will get you around 1000. In my LCR 22 the Stingers shoot a pattern instead of a group, so I carry Velocitors with a 40 grain bullet and they gave almost as much velocity as the Stingers. Each to their own.

I like my little LCR very much, and don't want or need a 22 magnum in that short of a barrel. Ruger has said not to expect it in 22 mag as they fear extraction problems from extracting 8 of them at once and some brands of ammo are sticky in the chambers. You really gain very little from 22 magnum in a 2" barrel. LOTS more noise and flash however. I have NAA mini revolvers in 22 magnum, and they rattle the dogs as much as 357 magnum..................

As cool as it would be for a magnum version, i think the LR fills the role just fine as is. The lcr .22 lr is way cheaper to shoot for practice or teachin ones to shoot. The magnum might give a bit more punch but not enough to justify a new model IMO.

Ill be getting an LCR .22 soon as i save a few pennies and find a decent deal

I use Stingers in my Charger and in a 10/22 that I use for squirrels and other small game hunting. They shoot better than any other ammo I've tried in my Charger, putting 10 shots in one ragged hole. They do minute of squirrel head in my 10/22.
I will shoot Champions or American Eagles out of my LCR, as I have a tendancy to run rounds through it pretty fast. Plus I have a few thousand rounds of each of them, and only 11 boxes of Stingers left.

Given how short the barrel is, I don't see what the advantage of shooting 22 mag would be in this gun. The muzzle velocity of the Mag would be only marginally higher than an 22LR, which the addition of a plethora of muzzle flash.

Based on my chrono data with both in the shorter barrels, it'd probably add 100 fps - a 40-grainer at 1030 fps instead of 930 fps. Add a heck of a lot of flash and noise, too.

That sounds about right, based on the NAA chronograph tests for their 2" barrel black Widow. Not as much difference as you would initially think. I have several NAA mini guns and in 22 Mag, they are LOUD and FLASHY....

I'd still buy one in a flash if they did it in .22 mag.

Interesting... My wife has a S&W 351C (.22 magnum). Extraction is a bit snug, but manageable. I shoot it a good bit as practice for my LCR 38 special (cheaper to shoot, you know), but the trigger isn't nearly as good.

I really want a .22 LCR I understand the trigger is nearly identical to the 38 special LCR. If that's true, practice would be a lot more fun, and wouldn't be limited to about 50 rounds.

I have looked carefully at 22LR vs @@ mag velocities out of handguns. When you get to 4+ or 5+ inch barrels, you can make an argument for 22 mag. When you are at 2-3 inch barrels, the 22 hypervoilicity rounds are very close to the 22 mag, such that the added cost/flash/sound levels don't seem to be justified.
