I'm thinking this might be a good stand alone topic, away from trigger stuff beacuse it can be such a troublesome step. I'll kick it off by telling you that I followed the recommended 1/4 turn of the sight set screw, drifted the sight left to right and broke the spring plunger. I tried the same thing on my Buddies LC9 but drifted the sight right to left and broke his spring plunger also.

Can some of you relate good experiences removing and installing the sight? How did you do it?

I'll make just one more comment. I THINK the only purpose of the plunger is to keep the spring from getting caught on the edge of the sight when it's going back on. If that's true couldn't one simple press it down out of the way as the sight drifts in?

Looks like lots looking but no one wants to comment. Anyway, my LaserLyte rear sight installation tool arrived yesterday. Wow this thing is as fantastic looking in real life as in the picutres. I picked it up via Amazon for $158, no shipping. Tomorrow I'll be giving it work out on a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 380.

I found your post trying to find some info re: adjusting the LC9 rear sight. I just bought an LC9 and thought it might be good to know how to adjust the sight if I need to. Can you describe what plunger you're talking about? I looked at the schematic and am not sure what piece you're referring to or what broke. Also, can you tell me where you found your info about adjusting it 1/4 turn? Thanks for the info.

I don't have my parts breakdown handy but... look at the parts just under the sight...there's three, firing pin blocker, blocker spring, spring plunger. For sure you want to drift right to left with the gun pointed away from you. I also suggest you let some oil soak in around the sight before moving it. Also, check the thread (http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=127275) on fixing the trigger issue. You'll see some really good info there.
