Single-Sixer
Picked it up yesterday, and just got back form the range. I think I may already be in love with this little gun. Shot 150 rounds of WWB without a flaw.
With the finger extension, the gun feels very good in my large hands, I am generally not a fan of the singe stack sub-compacts, but this one feels better than any I've handled. The grip swells out some at the back, filling my palm nicely, and the large trigger guard is certainly a positive.
The sights are excellent for a small gun, large enough for good accuracy , but nicely shaped to prevent snagging. The rear sight is adjustable, but mine was dead on out of the box.
Everything about the magazine is quality, unlike many of the junk mags that some other subs come with. The gun ships with only one mag, two would have been nice, but not a deal breaker for me.
The trigger is the only thing so far that I'm not 100% satisfied with. It has a VERY LONG, heavy pull, similar to that of a DA revolver, and just when it feels like it should break, it takes a little bit more pull do do so, breaking just before the trigger reaches the rearmost portion of the trigger guard. It's not the smoothest trigger either, and the reset is longer than I would prefer. I don't think these trigger issues will be a deal breaker for me though, I'm confident that with some more practice I will get accustomed to it.
For me the recoil is very manageable for a gun of this size and caliber, even shooting one handed. With it's sights and recoil characteristics, it has the shootability of a larger gun in a sub compact size.
A lot of people complain about all the safety features like the loaded chamber indicator, mag disconnect, and manual safety. None of these bother me. I plan to carry this with the manual safety off, it's stiff enough that I don't see anyway for it to unintentionally engage, and the trigger pull is certainly long and heavy enough to prevent any sort of AD under safe handling and carrying practices.
In the next week or so I plan to put another 200 rds of practice ammo and 100 rds of 124gr Speer Gold Dots through it. If that goes well, it will be time to find a holster, because I can certainly see myself carrying this frequently. Ruger may have hit a home run with this one, time will tell.
