I have a New in box Ruger LC-9 which had 18 out of 50 light strikes on the primer that caused a failure to fire. I understand this is a problem which other LC-9 owners have complain of.

What has Ruger done to correct this issue?

Does the fix actually work and has it cured 100% of the light strike problems?

What brand of ammo?

I have had a single light strike in seven months of ownership. It was with WWB.
I have read many needed to clean the firing pin channel but there has been no real "re-call" issue...

Lateck,

I had lite strikes on my LC9, at least 30-40 in the first 250-300 rds, with 3 different kinds of ammo and reloads. Sent it back to Ruger(3 weeks) they replaced the firing pin and spring. So far I've got 150 rds fired and no lite strikes, a friend has had the same problem, his is at Ruger now for service.

I had over 550 rds thru my LC9 before it started giving a problem with
light primer strikes. I called Ruger and they sent me a label to send it
in on their dime. They kept it about 2 weeks, replaced the slide and
test fired. After I got it back I put a 100 rds thru it with no problems.
I was well pleased with their service.

Sent mine back, 2 weeks, and now have over 400 rounds through it without a single issue.
Ruger will make it right.

Just sent mine back today. Well, not all the way back, just to local authorized Ruger service.
My lightsrikes were quite strange, as they seemed to happen more and more, as the gun was breaking in. First time at the range, I had 1 lightstrike in 100 rounds, around 60th shot. Next time it happened at 30-40th shot. Couple days ago, it happened at the beginning of a second magazine! I unloaded, dry-fired and reloaded...happened again in a minute! Now this was too much, it goes back. Hope it works then...that, or it goes out of the house. I like it a lot, it carries like feather, shoots quite accurate for such a little gun... my other Rugers are awesome guns, but this just makes trouble and that's no good for an EDC handgun.

I fireed 70 more rds thru the LC9 today with no lite-strikes,this makes 220 rds fired since I got it back from Ruger, couple more range sessions and its good to go!!! I hope!!

Make sure you know what the problem is before sending it back many of the LC9s have an issue with the firing pin assy, however with my LC9 (as well as a few others I am familiar with) the guns were pretty rough, the brass shavings/flakes were building up on the bolt face and softening the firing pin strike, the dead give away was a small brass puddle on a spent primer about the time the misfires began (I can post a pic if you need one). It fixed itself I just shot it until it started having trouble, clean the bolt face with CLP and a tooth brush rinse and repeat. It actually smoothed out and the problem went away pretty quick. My gun had a few issues all were resolved with out having to send the gun in.
Were you useing 115 gr Fiochi ?
