While up in NH/Maine/Massachusetts this past week, celebrating our 44th anniversary, I needed some bourbon for our last night. Went to a local store in Gloucester and got a small Bulleit bottle, paid for it, and halfway turned around to leave and my eye catches this on the shelf behind the cashier, all by itself.

Used to be a big deal to collect all the to Blanton's Tops........now you can buy them online so it's no big deal if someone has them all.

I've toured Buffalo Trace a couple times. It was interesting to see the bottling process of Blanton's in such a small room.

Have you asked if your preference is available? They may have a larger selection than what is stocked. Washington used to be state run. If I was looking for something special, they could maybe get it.

All I know, is I looked it up on the OLCC website, and this brand is not available.

I have never known to be able to order any distillates other than what's already on their list.

If there are people that are constantly visiting you, and you don't like them, serve them this bourbon.
It tastes like sh*t filtered through used cigarette butts and aged in a styrofoam cooler.

Blantons is good, but I would just as well have Eagle Rare. If I see Eagle Rare on the shelf, I grab it. Buffalo Trace goes for around $28 in Ohio and is usually available to buy. I like my rye whiskeys and this Jack is a good one and at 132 proof, a little goes a long way.

I kind of felt bad for that young guy you handed the jar too....

I like my bourbon.... but usually nothing fancy... just 80 proof Wild Turkey usually for me. Never could understand the like for that Scotch stuff... even though I now know what peat moss taste like. Tried some Logavulin (sp?) one time....
My bourbon has to come from Kentucky... even though I have been known to break down and drink Tennessee whiskey. And it all has to be made primarily from corn. Mixing something with it? I don't think so... weather is changing and I'm probably going to stop even putting ice in the glass.

Now Contender's mountain spring water.... that is usually cut down to 110-120 proof and you have to sip it from the mason jar it came in. What a lot of folks these days don't realize is at that proof you can pass the jar and not worry about passing anything along to the next guy germ wise.

I like good corn liquor, it's a little hard to find the good stuff around here. I have a line on some that is made locally, hopefully I can get a quart and it's good.

I’m glad you guys enjoy drinking, but I’m also glad I don’t.

It was a roller coaster for me. Fantastic highs, but really depressing lows.

Now I sort of stay in the middle.

Being that I am a Tennessee Squire, my preference is for any whiskey made in Lynchburg, TN.

Although, I have been known to drink the ‘local’ bourbons when in Lexington, KY.

So many good bourbons out there that we are in the golden age of bourbon IMHO.

Will THOUGHT it was actual water,, and in my defense,, I didn't know he didn't drink.

just 80 proof Wild Turkey usually for me

You must have a stash of older Wild Turkey. The lowest proof they have today is 80 proof since I believe the early 90's. Standard Wild Turkey has been 81 proof for a long time. I like Wild Turkey. I currently have on shelf the following Wild Turkey: Standard, 101, 101 Rye, 8yr, Long Branch, Rare Breed, Rare Breed Rye, Russel's Reserve 10yr, and a bottle of Russel's Reserve that Jimmy Russel signed for me a couple years ago. He showed up at the Wild Turkey Distillery when we were there. Fantastic guy to talk to and his Wife was very nice. She had a lot in common with my Mother and they struck up a conversation, giving me more time with Jimmy.

Aside from Wild Turkey I like Buffalo Trace brands as well. I currently have on hand: Buffalo Trace, Benchmark, Sazerac Rye, Traveller, Eagle Rare, and my distributer is awaiting the Prohibition Collection which I will pick up. There is Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream in the fridge and stashed in my cabinet. Not for me. The Wife likes it mixed with root beer and used in french toast.

I'm also a fan of Elijah Craig and have on hand: Small Batch, Barrel Proof, Toasted Barrel, and Toasted Rye.

I also enjoy and have on hand Woodford Reserve green label Rye.

A couple years ago my Wife set me up with the Tasters Club Bourbon of the month. Within the first 5 days of each month a new bottle arrives. There's been some very good ones, and some unusual ones. I'm not really a collector type but have a lot of bourbon. I've asked the Wife not to renew the club as I will just focus on my favorites being Wild Turkey and Buffalo Trace products.

I'm looking forward to another Bourbon Trail trip....but probably not until I retire next year. Still have a few on the map to check off.

I agree on the Elijah Craig. Very underrated, in my opinion.

BT is almost impossible to find here in North Texas, and nowhere near that price. I have discovered this one, but it's hard to find. I found a place in San Francisco that imports it but the shipping makes it a rare treat. They also distill a nice Vodka and Gin.
