I would like to mount a dot scope on my Super Redhawk .454 Casull. I would like it to have a large ocular and field of view. Any one have experience with this? Obviously I want it to hold up to the recoil of a .454 Casull AND what mount can I use for a dot scope?

Back in the early 90's I used a Tasco PDP2 with Ruger 30mm rings on top of my 44 magnum Super Redhawk to shoot local 100 yard handgun matches. One ring had to be modified slightly but it was easy to do in just 10 minutes. It was a solid setup and it stood up to few thousand rounds of my "hot" 44mag loads in 4+ years.

Those early PDP2 were made in Japan and was good quality but I've heard later ones were made in China and was of lesser quality.

C More red dot. You will have to change to a Jack Weigland mount because it requires a Weaver/Picatany base. It will hold the recoil; I have one and the guys at C More do too

steady i recently put a ultradot 1" scope, with the standard ruger 1" rings on my srh 44mag. i have no problem with scope movement. IMO when you go to the 30mm scopes, the rings are much taller, making the scope sit much higher. f.y.i. natchez had the ultradot scope in black for $129.00. these scopes have a liftime warranty and only weigh 4oz. weight was a big factor when i was selecting a scope. thanks 4521dln
