We have a screened in shack in the back yard and at this time of year on warmer sunny days get hundreds if not thousands of Lady Bugs on the south side screens. Most of them are on the inside of the screens and can be a real nuisance when eating our meals. I think they get into the shack by entering the corrugations in the tin roof and emerging between the roof boards. They can also bite. Anyone else get this many Lady bugs?

They are generally very welcome in our climate. They eat bad bugs.
I've often noticed there is some correlation between lady bugs and brown paper wasp.... they seem to go together.

I had no idea, so I looked it up. Just so happened I had one crawling around our bathroom window, so it made it easy to identify. It definitely has the markings on its head of an Asian lady beetle. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I learned something today.

Once Nita and I were at a nearby state forrest and decided to eat lunch on a nearby picnic table. Getting stuff out of the Jeep, I left the lift gate open. When I went back to another load, these critters had swarmed inside my Jeep. Later driving down some of the roads, we could see "orange balls" floating in the air in front of us as they swarmed in clouds. I know they are beneficial, but they sure can be a nuisance!

Kill them by spraying permethrin.
No ladybugs but thousands and thousands of flying grasshoppers. I live in a rural area and my property abuts a soybean field in back. I've lived here for about 20 years and this is the first time I've ever seen this many. It is literally unbelievable.

You’re probably right about the critters crawling through the gaps in the roof sheathing. Around here we have stink bugs that can crawl through the tiniest gaps to get into the house. Keep a shop vac handy while they are swarming.

Sounds like asian beetles they are a bit more orange that the "redder" ladybugs. Not sure if they are beneficial or not? They are an invasive species. I saw swarms of them in ND and MN this summer.
