The book I wrote about in my previous post, "The Old Men" is published by Ladder Tree Publishers. Their front page info caught my eye. In addition to all the usual publication data is this statement, in part:

"Ladder Tree Publishers is committed to pointing people to Christ, encouraging houndsmen, promoting hunting, and strengthening manhood."

"encouraging houndsmen" that is interesting, I'm not sure I've ever heard that term but having two hounds I kind of like it.

Hunting, especially black bear and Russian boar, using hounds is popular in East Tennessee. And there are some who will follow hounds treeing bears much the same way as coon hunters. The chase ends when the animal is treed, without killing the critter.
