Has anybody tried the Korean manufactured Mini-30 magazines that CDNN is selling? http://www.cdnninvestments.com/rumi307630ko.html . I know conventional wisdom is that Ruger mags are the only thing that work. However, the price of the Korean mags is roughly 1/2 of the Ruger brand and the Korean manufactured Glock magazines and M-1 Carbine magazines are excellent.

They may be fine mags, I have no idea. I bought a made in America firearm and paid accordingly. Not a foreign made knockoff at half the price. After spending hundreds of dollars for a firearm, I'll never understand the reasoning behind cheaping out on a magazine.

Here is the real problem... for some reason the mini-30 is famous for having feeding problems with aftermarket magazines.... don't know why but that is what I hear a lot and the experience I've had too. The springs always seem to be way too tight with the mag fully loaded and the feed ramp is never smooth on them. A few years ago I did come up with one very simple rule on after market magazines for any gun... if the company that makes them does not put their name on them... that tells you something. The mini-30 mags I have that don't work I can't even name for that reason... no manufacturers stamp... shows how proud they are of their work.

In reality... just how many magazines do you really need for a mini-30? personally a fully loaded 20 and especially a 30 round 7.62x39 mag is HEAVY...

I like the 20s, and the 10s... never cared for the 30 round mags, too long and too heavy.

Pro-Mag's older 10-round mags work well for me, but I replace the follower with a Ruger factory part as I think Ruger's synthetic is a bit more resilient.

I bought a lot of these. Took two out to the range today to test. Bottom line, both ran smooth as silk with 30 rounds of silver bear soft points each session. I did notice that I was not able to insert a fully loaded magazine on a closed bolt, which isn't an issue for me. I actually like the parkerized looking finish more than I like the blueing of the factory mini 30 20 rounders. Ordered 6 more korean 30's a few minutes ago and plan to keep adding more to my inventory whenever I have some extra cash to blow. I understand the you get what you pay for philosophy, and agree to some extent, but I like to keep my eyes open for the occasional exceptions. Oh, the mini 30 I took to test these magazines was a new tactical model. One of these days, I will test in my older minis.
