Knife projects this spring

Well the weather is starting to warm up, so I'll be spending some time on a few knife projects. Be good to get out of the house and away from this infernal computer and relax in the shop.

First up is a boot knife using some cocobolo I have on hand for grips and sheath. Should look pretty good. Got enough of this for 2 or 3 knives, then I'll have to dig out something else. Got a couple skinner blades to do also, and a tanto.

Wow Gunny looks pretty nice, I've been thinking about giving that a try some day.

I buy the blades and make the scales and sheath. Standard 440C stainless blades are reasonably inexpensive, and are often on sale. http://www.woodcraft.com/search2/search.aspx?query=knife%20kits . Other sites have high carbon tool steel kits for a little more money.

These kits are a good way to get started, and can usually fetch $50 and up finished, depending on the wood, etc. You can get practically any blade design you want from folders to kitchen knives.

I've got s couple in progress ,but I've got a bunch of things in the works too LOL.
It kind of depends on money and time lining up as to what I'm working on at the time .
Basically I don't get anything done LOL.
