Many of you know my Mom died at the end of last August. Since then, I have been taking care of the settling of her estate. Things are wrapping up, and her house is finally on the market. She had a beautifull country oak dinning table and chairs. I liked this table so much, I bought one for myself, 19 years ago. My brother and sister didn't want it. It just didn't seem right to sell it to a stranger, so I gave it to my cousin Brad, a farmer, along with some other furniture. Something about family having it meant alot to me, to keep the memory of Mom going. Brad said he would think of Mom every morning he had his breakfast, after milking his cows. This put a huge smile on my face. 
Yesterday, he came back down for a few more odds and ends. He told me he recently won a rifle in a Firemans raffle, and that it just felt right to give it to me. I was totally surprised by his act of kindness. The rifle is a brand new Ruger Hawkeye .30-06.
On May 1st and 2nd, my daughter, Samantha and I, took the Md. Hunter Safety Course together. We both passed with flying colors. Though I've hunted for years,in Md., if you held a license prior to 1977, you didn't need to have the Hunters Safety Certificate. I was immensely impressed with the program.
Anyway, being proud of Samantha passing her Hunter Safety Test, with no prodding from me, whatsoever, I felt it just right to give her the rifle Brad had given me. I have a nice,mild load of 24 grs of 2400 under a RCBS 150 gr FNGC cast bullet at about 2000 fps for her to start with.
The Karma had gone full circle. Everyone is happy, and I think this picture of Samantha holding her new Hunters Safety Certificate and new rifle is proof in the pudding !
