Just ordered SBH Bisley Hunter

I'm pretty excited. I just ordered a SBH Bisley Hunter and a Weaver Classic Handgun 2X28 scope. I feel like this revolver is a lot of gun for the money. Paid $605 for the revolver and $153 for the scope. Should make a great package for PA whitetail. Waiting...

Sounds like you will be set for deer and about anything else at least in the lower 48. The SBH Hunters are pussycats to shoot. They really soak up the recoil.

What red dot are you using? The scope is the one thing I'm concerned about. I generally buy higher end optics but this one was the exact size, magnification and objective diameter I was looking for. This will be my first weaver product and I'm worried it may be a little bit too "made in china".

I have the same gun. It is a great piece. I have a Ulta-Dot, it was highly recommended on the HandgunHunter site, works great. I also have modified so the cylinder can be turned in either direction. This is great for loading and ejection especially if you shoot this gun a lot...and you will.

I was limited budget-wise when it came to optics. I chose an ADCO 1.5 moa dot, 30mm tube, cost about $100. It's been on for about 500-700 med. power loads, has not shifted POA. If your gun comes with 28mm rings, just send them back and ask for 30mm rings, Ruger was really nice and just exchanged them. you might be surprised, my trigger was(is) perfect from the factory!!

Don't worry about the quality of the Weaver Classic 2x handgun scope. I have one on a 44 mag TC Contender and it compares very well with Leupold, Burris and Simmons scopes I have on other handguns. The 28mm objective lens does limit field of view a bit, but otherwise the Weaver performs well in hunting situations.

I just purchased the SBH Bisley 44 too and I love it! Bought it from Buds even though I found it for $584 locally but the dealer is a scumbag and I just refused to give him my business. I don't have a scope for yet, maybe eventually though. Good luck with it.

Great setup! We bought Dad one for Christmas a few years ago and had Cary fit it with some macassar ebony. It's a fine shooter!

The Weaver scope should be fine. I've had excellent results on my revolvers with one.

Thanks fro the feedback. I feel much better now about my scope choice. I wanted a fixed power, 2.5 or less magnification scope. I also didn't want a straight 20 mm tube so at 2X28 the weaver fit the bill. You guys that have these things scoped what kind of holster are you carrying it around in?
I've found a hunter leather sling and a blackhawk canvas one that look promising. Craig, those grips are beautiful! Did you buy them from a forum member?

I actually expect (fingers crossed) this thing to come from the factory with a decent trigger. I have a GP100 that came with a great trigger and I would expect the single action to be a bit better.

The weaver scope is great on the hunter. My 45 Colt shoots 1.5inch 6rnd groups at 50yds with it. Here is a write up with lots I did on the Wyoming Combination Holster. I like it a lot. Here's a few quick pics.

That Wyoming Combo Holster is "da-bomb" for carrying a scoped SBH hunter.

I bought one earlier this year and it is much comfortable, even when filled with that massive hunk of metal that is the SBHH.

One thing I did find with my Bisley when hunting. If you shoot with gloves, make sure that they are form fitting to your hand. I had a pair of camo gloves I use for bowhunting that I tried to use. On 2 seperate occasions the bisley hammer spur got snagged on the web of material between my index finger and thumb and prevented the hammer from dropping. Missed 2 good hogs because of it.

I love my SBH Bisley Hunter in .45 colt Hope to hunt with it this season. Right now it has a 2x28 weaver but it will come off for hunting and Bowen rear sight will be installed!
