Just one more thing

as I get older, I feel more and more like Columbo. It seems everything I do, when I am finished and sit down, I remember just one more thing needs to be done, so I have to get back up and go do it. Aggravating.

Anyone else noticing this? Today when I made lunch I got everything ready, sat down to eat, then remembered I needed to fill my water glass, so I got back up and did that. Just goes on and on....

All of the above ^^^

I will add that, if it ain't on the "list" it ain't gonna get got.

I have gone to the store many times with a list and said to myself at the last minute "oh you need...."

Get home and there is no "...."

I just look at it as extra exercise. I'll be working on something, go back around to the shed, garage, house etc for a tool or whatever & return to what I was doing without whatever it was I went after. I then get to repeat the process.

We solved the forgetting something at the store issue. Now we make an online order, double check that we didn't miss anything & pull up to the curb side pickup spot & the nice lady brings out the groceries. Most weeks she calls to say they don't have something or other & I reply, "no problem, we've still got several in the cabinet or fridge".

I put new brake pads on the 01 Chevy yesterday afternoon (had to wait for it to get as hot as possible). Seemed like every time I took a break, I noticed something I needed to do 'right now' before I forgot to do it.

The older I get the more I think about the hereafter. I walk into a room and say What am I here after?

Going grocery shopping, wife gives me a list and between home and the store, I lose the list. Do it my memory. Get 1/2 the stuff on the list and bunch of stuff she never wanted.

I was just thinking about the grocery store. We've never made lists.

But if I go to the store it's a random assortment of stuff. Nothing to make a meal.

My wife has to go and actually buy the food we need to eat.

Even then we won’t remember to get everything we need. Say if we have a special meal planned.

Right now, we eat a lot of BOGO. It cam be fried, put in a sandwich or even broiled.

I start a day thinking I want to get THIS done. Just this one thing and I'll be done by lunch and take a nap while it is boiling hot outside.

3 or 4 o'clock and I'm dripping with sweat. Every piece of clothing is dripping off me. I'll strip off EVERYTHING and throw it down on the back porch and walk straight to the shower. I'll fill a big plastic glass FULL of ice and mix a run and diet pepsi in there and have half a can of Pepsi left. Sit down on my little shelter house in the breeze and realize I never even TOUCHED THE F'n ONE thing I wanted to get done and can't even remember what I had for lunch, let alone what I did all day.

When I was younger and working I could focus better. When I was going to buy groceries I took my mind off of all else and did it. Now being retired my mind seems to just bounce around from one thing to the other, it's just harder to stay focused on one thing and complete your task. Of course knowing that you aren't working and can just go back and get whatever you forgot any time doesn't help.

Caught a groundhog in the 330 this morning.. Check the rest of the traps and then had to get ready for town. Spent all day in town. At the dermatologist getting things frozen and cut off. Went to Sam's and Culver's with a stop at the last Walmart heading home.

I kinda thought I heard that groundhog laughing there once.

At least when Columbo stuck his head back in the door for that "one more thing," he remembered what it was.
I've got to find me one of those new fangled GPS that tells me how to get there , and then why I wanted to go there!

I kept forgetting things like turning off/on my portable oxygen and oxygen tanks when I go out shopping so my son kept reminding me to get some post it notes to stick everywhere. I put one in my P.U. truck on the dashboard to turn on the tank I have in the back seat, only I can see it when I start up my truck and I STILL ignore the note. It just doesn't register with me. He also me bought a clip board size grease board/pen set to place right next to my EZ chair and I still forget to look at it. TIP for some of you. When my wife had cancer, it was difficult for her to get out of her EZ chair and being the brains of our outfit, she asked me to make a small platform to fit under the EZ chair so it would be easier for her to get out of. Wish I still had it as I could certainly use it now. Now what were we talkin' about?

We have the same problem with our easy chairs. Years ago the same chairs were no problem.
I bought some hockey pucks to put under the back legs. They do not hurt the floor and they do not slip out.

I just took a screen shot of fox. A young white woman in cuffs being rushed away from scene it seems. Second suspect, accomplice?

I’ve been to the store four times to get black ink for my printer. First time I got to the store and walked around trying to remember what it was and ended up saying oh yeah I needed toothpaste so I got toothpaste then I got home and realized I didn’t have any black ink. I did that again the next day And found I needed some laundry soap and I got home and didn’t need the laundry soap, but I still needed black ink. I went just a couple of days ago and came home with some shampoo, some vitamins and some Q-tips but I still didn’t get the black ink for my printer.
🤷‍♂️
