Just a reminder on safety

Tragic.

Firearm safety is paramount.

Sadly,, in my experiences,, only about 15% of LEO's are active gun people,, and as such,, the other 85% are not as well trained or safety conscious.
My LEO son has regaled me with several discussions of how MANY of his fellow officers can barely pass the annual qualification. His experiences mirror what a brother from another mother, former Federal agent shared with me. Any my brother was a firearms instructor for part of his career.

They may call it an accident,, but I beg to challenge that description. I'd call it a "negligence" event.

My experience matches Contender’s. My friend was the RO for a large local Sheriff’s department. While the range wasn’t open to the public if you knew the right people you could shoot there. 11 months of year you usually had the place to yourself. The month before qualifications it was a very scary madhouse. Cops everywhere that couldn’t hit a 24”x24” target at fifty feet.

In the small town of 10000 people where I used to live,I was surprised at the number of officers that had a hard time qualifying.
The assistant chief told me that the wages most were being paid for those with families didn't leave enough room for practice ammo other than what the city provided.
