Was sitting thinking about it and realized that the first car I owned that had an air conditioner was an 80 Chevy Chevette

most people do know what its like to work outside and when they got the chance, they did something to get out of it and enjoy ac.
my FIL from ark thought he could handle the island campaign in ww2. matter of fact, they sent him there because he was a hillbilly farm boy from the ozarks. when the war was over, he said he'd never work in a place like that ever again and bought a new home with AC and never looked back. started a coin op business and traveled in a car with AC.
i paid my dues.
1. i worked on roofs as a teenager as a carpenters asst.
2. i worked on carriers on flightdecks in 140 deg heat with 500 deg jet blast trying to kill me.
3. i sat in boston whalers in the ocean cooking away waiting for a sub or an airdrop to happen.
4. i competed for the navy in rifle, pistol, and shotgun matches in the dead of summer. even got heat exhaustion once.
and thank GOD i never had to go to the sand box. i retired beforhand.
so.....all my homes have AC and i travel interstate with cars with AC and its my right as an american to have it and use it.
call me spoiled now, but by golly i wasnt a couch potato all my life and i paid my dues to have it.
72-74 deg is heaven to me.
65 deg is died and went to heaven.

My son was born 38 years ago today at 7:02am and it was 97° at the time. The first vehicle I have ever had with air conditioning is my 2020 Chevy Colorado Work Truck and I take advantage of it. The only room in our house that is air conditioned is the bedroom and on really hot days I will watch TV in there.
I've worked on boilers for my entire life and still do except that instead of tearing them apart and repairing them I just cover the shifts making sure they run. As I get older I can tolerate the heat less and stay hydrated as much as possible.

In my state, 95* is not brutal for July/August, it’s a cool front !
It’s very muggy and hot here today in Cali even this morning was to hot to walk the dog

that's as brutal as going about a week at -50, at least in the heat you can take clothes off.....
Heat temp versus humidity! Live on east coast for most of my life. 80 degrees and 80% humidity was terrible. Sweat rolling off your body, no to little sweat. Then in Arizona, 122 degrees with 1% humidity was tough. Shade cooled you down 20 degrees. But the oven-like heat was bad.

I just saw a 'heat index' higher than I have seen before. In the shade I don't have a problem with the heat, but today, the sun is REALLY bright and hot

Everyone is a drama queen these days. Even the weatherman has gotten in on the act. With all this feels like and heat index and heat warning junk.

Not being a "Drama Queen". Simply stating a fact. I have never seen a heat index number that high. If you had read a previous post of mine you would have noticed I stated that it was June (may have been July), it was Maryland, don't like the weather wait a while, it will change. I also was stationed at Ft Bliss, TX three times. I know what hot is.
